Don't bother with the Peabody
The atmosphere of the hotel is pleasant enough. The front desk was efficient if unremarkable. Where things really fell apart was with the food service. I arrived to the hotel at 2:15pm, 45-minutes before the stated check-in time. Check-in was fine, but on trying to get something to eat in the only restaurant in the hotel, I was informed that it was closed. Sunday in downtown Little Rock left few options.
That evening, a colleague and I went to dinner at the now open restaurant, Capriccio Grill. The hotel's website bills the restaurant as providing "...guests with a comfortable, memorable dining experience." Memorable it was, one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. Not only was the food bad, but the service was what you would expect at a bad diner or perhaps an airport terminal eatery during the fourth hour of a major flight delay.
Generally, the service was poor and inattentive. If there were dishes to drop, they were (three times in less than 60-minutes). Once, a waiter was walking away from a table and turned his head to yell over his shoulder, "Have a good night" loud enough so that there wasn't a patron in the restaurant who didn't hear. Finally, when the pasta course was delivered, it was a crusted, gluey mess, no doubt having sat under the warmers in the kitchen for some time. To top it off, it was pasty and tasteless. When the waitress asked how things were, I told her that the food was not good. She literally ran away. The manager came and asked what I wanted him to do. My response was to remove the food. No apologies, no offer to make things right. You'd think that for a $19 bowl of pasta, they would at least make it edible and serve it with pride and professionalism.
Save your money. Find a Holiday Inn Express and a get a free Cinnamon Roll. You'll be better off than staying at The Peabody and suffering through a horrid meal.
