Hilton Anchorage, Anchorage

Room was dirty (including the candy bar wrapper behind the nightstand). Ate at the Hotel's Top of the World Restaurant. Use to be a first class restaurant, but no longer the case. Poor service, so so food, way overpriced. Beautiful view. Hotel needs a face lift.

I stayed here with my family, as part of our cruise package, in early June 2006. Place was adequate for a single night stay. The hotel was close to a local outside street market which was just across the street. A wide variety of gift shops and restaurants are located within a two to three blocks from the hotel; therefore, no car is necessary. A coffee shop and and a bakery are located in the lobby area. Swimming pool was clean enough to swim in, just no lifeguard on duty. Overall, I rate this hotel as good because of its close proximity to local shops and restaurants.

The hotel is what one expects of a typical Hilton--well located, clean, not too fancy but still has nice touches. The rooms are comfortable and have nice views of area mountain ranges.

We were part of a cruise group that arrived at the hotel late at night. Our room was dirty...feathers on the bed and in the bathroom, and the sheets had human hair on them. Housekeeping offered to send up clean sheets but had no staff to change the bed or clean the room. (and this is a huge hotel!) They offered a discount coupon for breakfast to make amends, but the front desk claimed they never were given that information. The hallways were jammed packed with furniture (a firecode violation) due to renovations. The front desk clerks were impolite and uncaring. After checkout our group was made to wait in a tiny room through which other groups had to pass with their luggage. Not a pleasant experience!

Anchorage is great in late spring to early fall. Late fall through early spring is too cold, windy, and snow. As late as early April. If you fish, find out what fish are running when. The different salmon have different months that they return. Halibut are always there. Denali is a must see. The city is really spread out so allow yourself time to get out of the city.

We loved this hotel when my sister got married. We stayed in the Governer's Suite and my parents stayed in a suite a couple floors away. Having a room in the hotel made getting ready for the big day so stress free and easy. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant had wonderful service and the food was great. The wedding and reception came off wonderfully and the wedding cake made by the hotel catering staff was the best I've have before or since. If you are ever looking for a place to get married and have the reception all in one, look into the Hilton!

This hotel was great and in close proximity to the convention center. It's has a great views as well!

It was clean, the staff is great and the prices are right. Can't find a better value in Anchorage.

My husband and I stayed at The Hilton Anchorage in April 2004. The hotel is in the city center, within walking distance of many downtown shops and restaurants. Our room was just average and was a handicapped room, which we didn't need. I would have preferred a normal room. We had a nice view of the Chugach Mountain Range, but also of the roof of the building next to us, on which was a large bag of trash which remained our entire visit. This could have easily been removed by opening our room window. The room looked tired and needed renovation. The hotel has no parking lot on the premises, instead you need to use a public lot about half a block down the street. Be warned that this is a "cruise ship" hotel and according to one of the staff, is extremely full during cruise ship season. We ate lunch in the coffeeshop and the food was fine, however, I would highly recommend Simon & Seafort's Saloon & Grill at 420 L Street, (907) 274-3502 (just a short walk away) for lunch or dinner. The seafood is excellent, the service is friendly and efficient. We ate lunch there one day and liked it so much, we went back for dinner. Be sure and make a reservation for dinner, they are very popular. I enjoyed Anchorage, but if I visit again, I would chose a different hotel.

Had a wedding there. As a bonus these folks threw in a suite for the bride and groom. Loved the rooms we were in and the food in the restaurant was fabulous.
