Not Horrible
By Jacob Ellanna, 7/11/11
I stayed at this hotel for my Aca Deca trip and I didn't think it was bad at all. My hotel room wasn't dirty, no dust or anything. . I went to the swimming pool multiple nights in a row. I didn't have to pay for each night but now that I've looked at it it does seem a little pricy for an average hotel. Everything was great for me, except on two nights of my stay the alarm went off, and the first night they appologized and turned it off but on the SECOND night my friends and I were forced to go outside in -20 degree weather and we waited by the fire exit for at least 10 minutes until someone who was staying at the hotel came out and said, "You guys know you can go back in right?".... "NO I DIDN"T KNOW THAT!". All was made up in the end because we got free wifi for the rest of our stay :].

So disapointed in this hotel - worst ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/18/11
My son and I were very excited to be in Anchorage for the start of the Iditarod. We were even excited about the cold weather until we checked in to room #1766. The window was broken and the fierce wind was howling through our room. Don from Maintenance came and fixed it after a couple of tries. The only way to fix it was to tape it shut, so we wer no longer able to open our window. We had to call Don back again the next morning as the heater was broken and was making a high pitched squeeling sound. Again he was able to fix it. Nice guy. We later tried to order room service but they were out of just about everything. We checked out for 2 days to go go to Girdwood and then came back. This time they tried to put us in the other wing in a room right next to the elevator. The room wasway too tiny and loud so they moved us to room # 768. it was much better, until we went to use the toilet. The handle was hanging off of it and it would not flush. Maintence came to fix it only it was not fixed and the next time we used it, it would not flush. At 10: 30 they moved us to room 1666. This was fine until the next day when house keeping never came. I made the beds, but requested fresh towels, soap and shampoo. They came about 20 minutes later and gave 2 half used bottles of shampoo- that is nasty, Also in terms of cleanliness, aside from not having houskeeeping come on 2 different days out of our 6 nights there. The room was filty. I had walked around the room with my white socks on and when I sat down to take them off they were black on the bottom from the room. Under the beds is really dirty with thick layers of dust and other peoples garbage. Also theshelf in the closet was very sticky like someone spilled a soda. I loved Anchorage, but If I come back, I will stay else where.

Bedding was Horrible.
By PaulC, 8/22/10
My stay at this hotel was horrid. The first thing that i saw in the room was Very dirty sheets. They had a horrid stench and it looked like someone else stained the sheets and the hotel did not clean them or change them over. This is a really bad place to stay. Way to expensive for a Crappy ROom. Managers at this hotel are really bad at there J O B Please Do not stay at this hotel.

Horrible Room
By Sue Murphy, 7/28/10
I had to go to a Seminar over the week of July 13-16 2010, the room I had was horrible, the walls are peeling, paint was coming off the ceiling in the shower, the tub was so dirty I had to scrub the soap scum off BEFORE I could shower, the tv most of the channels were fuzzy. I work in the apartment business , there is no way I could even rent this room out to a tenant looking like it did. I took pictures and will be in touch with the owner.

Scary elevators use at your own risk!!!
By MissGuided08, 1/9/10
Pulled up to the Hilton had barely off the street parking to unload bags from the taxi was not good. It was foggy, icey, cold and the wind was blowing very dangerous. Checked in the woman at the front dest was very nice and arranged for a late check out. I got into the elevator and was mortified when the doors opened before the elevator actually stopped at my floor I was in the Anchorage Tower. I ordered room service enjoyed a delicious dinner then went to put the left overs in the refigerator only to discover there was none. I called the front dest they called maintence to "Bring me a fridge". The first fridge was scraped up and missing the rack and didn't work. The second fridge was missing the ice box door and the rack and was also scratched up. The third fridge worked but I had to clean it before I put food into it. The internet worked great for $12.95 for 24 hrs!!! The next day I heard stories of the elevators stopping on the wrong floor and sure enough push the 7th floor button and you could end up on the 9th floor...Scary. The Hilton Anchorage web-site said that they have a "Starbucks" so I was thrilled rushed right down to the lobby to get a Frapp. and was told that they weren't actually a real Starbucks and didn't even have a blender. There was no newspaper delivered to my room and no refrigerator. But the food and service were exceptional. The room was comfortable. The office chair at the desk was comfortable which is a nice change. The bathroom door was so close to the toilet that it barely closed. The ice machine was across the hall from my room and worked but on other floors didn't work at all. Then there was the mysterious voices in the hall. I thought maybe I was the only one that heard people talking for quite awhile but the next morning another guest that was on my floor mentioned it. There was a M&M on the floor amongst the dust at the head of the bed. The night before I checked out I used one of the airline check-in Kiosks in the lobby that was good. I would return to the Hilton for the delicious food and good service. I just hope that they get the elevators fixed and start actually dusting the rooms.

Average for a Hilton
By SteveW, 6/20/08
Having selected the Hilton due to closeness to railway station (and use of Hilton reward stays), the hotel met my expectations. I only decreased the rating to a 3 comparing to what have come to expect from other Hilton properties, but would still recommend as a great option. Some of the comments by other reviewers are accurate. My room was oddly laid out and very little space around the bad. Hotel building is not as new as other properties in downtown, but very well located to both the train depot and resturaunts (note the train whistle may wake you - latest 10pm and earliest 6:15am). Having stayed at many Hilton's, I would say a middle of the line Hilton property.

Not a good experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/07
Location was great. Everything else, not good at all. Room was very small and not very clean. Bathroom had backed up tub, blackened moldy mat, and hair everywhere. Face cloths were not provided. Floor was not vacuumed and there was someone's dirty socks under the bed. Heat/air conditioning did not work. Television remote was covered in grease and the keys stuck. Met several guests with comparable experiences. In a 4-day stay, I never once saw a cleaning person. We only knew they were there because they made the bed and one day left our door opened. A baby crib filled with dirty linens was left in the hall all 4 days. Front desk clerk was apologetic and said he'd look into it but nothing changed. If you need to stay in Anchorage, find another hotel.

Find Another!
By johnb, 6/25/07
Having stayed at many Hilton properties this was the worst for service and staff. The resturants were sub standard for service and food. The morning server did not understand why I didn't want to eat at the buffet but to order from the menu. Then the concept of scrambled eggs took 3 tries to explain. I suggest finding another hotel.

Hotel just Okay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/07
They gave us a "Room" on the 7th floor #712. It was so small you had to turn sideways to pass between the TV and bed. Certainly not the double room we booked. The service was good. The business center charged for internet service. No hetel parking lot. All and all I was not impressed with what we got for the price.
