Great Hiking and Great View
By Coreen, 06/19/06
We loved the room right on the lake! The hiking trails were great and we saw a lot of wild life! We didn't golf, but the course looked very nice. Wish we would have stayed one more day. The room was huge, but nothing to write home about. The restaurant was not the cleanest, but the service was good.

Nice lodge, good food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/10/04
There aren't a lot of lodging alternatives in this neck of Northern Alabama, but the Joe Wheeler Park lodge is a good choice. Typical "family motel," clean and well equipped, but not luxurious. Despite the lodge name the accomodations aren't rustic. Huge fireplace in the lobby fulfills the lodge tradition and is a cozy gathering spot in cold weather. Restaurant is excellent traditional Southern fare.
