2nd floor is actually more of a parking lot view.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/11/10
My wife and I arrived 8/4/10 for 6 nights traveling from Texas. We requested king bed ocean front room and was quoted $235 a night except Friday it was $298. The ocean front room was on the 2nd floor and actually more of a parking lot view. If that was not bad enough throughout our stay a very large number of people not actually Not staying at the hotel parked unloaded used the ocean front beach, bathroom while setting and resetting their car alarms coming and going. From our room you heard every alarm and conversation on the parking lot. I did ask to relocate to an upper floor room and was told no other rooms were available. Note: there are 39 rooms on floor 3 through 5 and it was a Wednesday with 18 cars in the parking lot. I walked the halls of the upper floors the next day while rooms were being cleaned and did see a few unoccupied rooms. The photo with the ocean view is from one of them. On Friday the $298 day we did not receive room service even after making a direct request to house keeper vacuuming the hall in front of our room on our departure for several hours. When I presented the problem to the office management I was met with rude hostel definitive responses no apology more like trying to say it was my fault for not bring this to the management attention instead of making request to staff. I was offered services but unfortunately it was very late in the day and conflicted with evening getting ready plans. Besides the scheduling and management of house cleaning is an include service not a customer’s responsibility, at least that’s how it is presented. I did requested compensation for services paid for and not received and was provide 15% discount. I preferred not having the bad experience over the %15 believe me. The next day the house cleaning staff entered our room on the definitive with explaining what had happen again more of our fault for not bring this to the management. After this event the staff parked their carts and had social gathering outside of our door with vacuuming 3 or 4 times over a couple hours time. On the day we checked out I attempted to show photos from our ocean front room with proof it was more of a parking lot view then ocean. Again met with rude hostel definitive responses no apology and demanding we had an ocean view. After this I decided this was the culture of the hotel staff and I was not going to make a difference and best I spend my time and energy making others aware of our experience. I paid my $1,309 bill and we headed back to Texas. If you do decide to stay at this hotel and do desire a pleasant vacation experience I recommend do not stay on the 2nd floor and no matter what, do not Neg at the Neg Head Inn staff they are professionals at what and how they do what they do and they will let you know it.

Going back again!
By Jacqueline, 3/17/10
My boyfriend and I had gone last summer for a few days and we absolutely loved the oceanfront view. The staff was courteous, and checking in and out was a cinch. Direct access to the beach was a huge factor in our decision. Room was clean and big enough for us to bring TONS of our personal items. We will be back this summer, for sure!

Love it!
By April, 2/25/10
We travel to the Outer Banks during off-season. We were so impressed that we just had to go back!! Going again soon and cannot wait to open the balcony door and hear the ocean roar! Great location, and staff is VERY friendly.

Good before Great Now
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/09
There have been many changes since last year and they are all good. The beds and linens are worthy of much higher end resorts. The hospitality suite is a great addition especially the sweet potato biscuit from Kelly's. The new lobby look and all of the new in room appliances are all first class. We actually paid less than last year and the whole experience was much better. In my opinion they went from an ok deal to a bargain for what you get in the ocean front rooms. Unless the rates go up a bunch next year, we'll be back again. We felt the residential area, uncrowded beach but close proximity to Nags Head's local cool spots (Tortuga's, Sam & Oumie's, Kelly's, Owens) make this place the best location on the Outer Banks for a tourist type hotel.

Great value for off-season rates
By wilco, 4/8/08
My daughter and I went for a mini-getaway. The hotel is older, and could use some remodeling, but for the off-season rate and ocean-front room, it was great! The pool and hot tub were very nice to relax in, and I loved being able to go out on the balcony and watch the ocean waves. The room was clean, and the beds looked brand new. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and every amenity was thought of.

ALWAYS STAY HERE.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/07
We have been to Nags Head many times and we always stay here. It is away from the main stream and this is one thing that we like. After all we do have our own transportation. You may encounter some sand in places but remember you are at the beach. We have always been well pleased with every asspect of the Nags Head Inn. The Wheelers West Virginia

Great place for Bike Week
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/1/07
As this was our first visit to the Outer Banks and our first time to the "Outer Banks Bike Week" we had no idea what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised and quite pleased. Hotel was everything we had hoped it would be and more. We could not have asked for better accommodations. All of the staff was helpful and friendly, even when coming in during the early hours of the morning. And if you are lucky, you will meet Miss Ethel who was a delightful 80 year old who was always smiling and ever so happy. An added bonus was the large covered parking area for the motorcycles just outside the front desk - good security aspect. We didn't see one motorcycle that had to park out in the open or to be put back into their trailer at night. My husband and I will stay here again in the years to come and we will recommend the hotel to our friends and family. Can't imagine any place nicer.

Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous!
By MurielW, 3/8/07
Nags Head Inn is heaven! My family have been going for years.........There is everything you need available right in one spot! Sunny and hot, rainy and cold, it doesn't matter. NHI provides a superb beach for the good weather. A heated pool, hot tub and a good book make a great rainy, cold day! Relaxation or excitement is available! Central location to popular restaurants and attractions. There are not enough words to convey our satisfaction with NHI. Try it! I guarantee you will make it your vacation spot as well!
