Very enjoyable stay! BUT...
On the plus side: super staff - friendly, helpful and personable; clean, comfortable accommodations; strong AC; convenient; value-priced. On these bases, I WOULD recommend this hotel.
BUT...
The WRONG amount was charged against my debit account. Just take a wild guess as to whether the amount was higher or lower than the quoted price (laugh). It was higher by about $40.00! And this happens on a regular basis, according to the exceptionally nice staff member I spoke to about it. Unfortunately, rather than fix the problem, the proprietorship has instructed their staff to come across with a lame explanation as to the reasoning behind it all and that the erroneous amount is only "on hold temporarily" and that it "will just go away" within a week.
Hey, Wellesley Inn Fairfax! The only amount that should be reflected in my account at any time, temporary or no, is the amount I agreed to pay! It looks shady! It feels shady! It IS shady!!! FIX IT!!!
But what am I yelling at Wellesley Inn Fairfax for? Soon Wellesley Inn Fairfax will no longer exist. As of 8/24/2006, they're 90% through a complete renovation and will be reemerging as a Holiday Inn Express. At least some of their people are staying on through the changeover, though I don't know what's happening staff-wise above the front-desk level. Suffice it to say that I'll be watching this entity closely and would advise one and all to exercise due caution when dealing with them.
