Nightmare. Week Prepaid via RCI & no ROOM

Imagine flying 20 hours...and showing up to your resort and they do not have a room for you. Now add you are in South Africa...there are rolling blackouts, it is a holiday week, and the natives are fighting and burning down homes nearby. The front desk staff were not helpful. They simply handed me the phone and the RCI representative said they never heard of me, either. Yes, I did reconfirm (or try to with Southern Sun Central reservations). They acknowledge they got my emails but when they did not have my reservation they did nothing..never told me it was a problem so I could rectify while still in the States. So I arrive on a Friday night...no way to get in touch with the US firm, the hotel says they never heard of me and I prepaid for a week. NIGHTMARE. Oh..but the hotel manager did let me know I paid 8 times the going rate. That made me feel much better...

What can I say? I showed up and no room. I had advance paid for a week. As an extra precaution I had e-mailed central reservations....TWICE a couple days in advance with complete details of the confirmation..they never got back.
They were totally inept. Incapable of handling the situation either.
Because they could not get the reservation..they were belittling.
