You may suffer an extreme BED BUG Nightmare!!!
I'm a government employee staying in the hotel for 3 week training class. Checked in June 9th, 2008. On or around June 17th, 2008, I got up to get ready to go to work and had numerous red, extremely itchy bites all over. At first I thought may be it was a reaction to laundry detergent from the sheets. As days passed and bites and itching got worse even after I washed the sheets and all my clothes at the laundramat and I still had the same problem in fact it continued to get worse, I knew it was something other than the detergent. I went to work and discussed the problem with other co-workers staying at the same hotel. One woman said she too had a rash that sounded just like mine. As we talked, someone suggested bed bugs. At that time I refused to think such a thing. Because of the intense itching, I went to Walgreens and bought Gold Bond; Benadril spray; Calahist; and Hydrocortazone cream and began to coat myself with it. By Sunday, June 22nd, 2008, my abdomen area, up and down both of my sides, and all around my back and chest and in some spots on my legs, I had an estimate of about 500 bites and was totally miserable. I got on the internet finaly to research my problem and see if it truly was bed bugs. After researching it, I was sure it was in fact Bed Bugs. I was so freaked out I refused to sleep in the bed and chose to sleep on the bathroom tile floor. While sitting on the tile floor, I saw several little black bugs crawling around. I caught two of the bugs in a tissue but because I was so freaked out because I saw them that I grabbed my stuff and spent my last night there in my truck!!!! Unfortunately, I forgot to grab the tissue to show the manager because you know no one ever believes you. I checked out the next morning. I went to the hotel staff to explain that my room was infested with Bed Bugs. They had me fill out a incident report and took some embarrassing pictures and said that they would have Ecolab come out and check the room. I called the hotel the following day to inquire about Ecolab's report and of course I was told that the report was negative for bed bugs but they did spray the room. I was suffering so bad from the itching bites all over that I went to an urgent care facility that was unable to confirm that I had bed bug bites but gave me a steroid shot, steroid pills and steroid cream to help relieve the itch. When I finally returned home, I went to a dermatologist and had a biopsy done, which not only am I itching from the bites but now I have 3 stitches in my back that itch really bad. I don't get my stitches out for another week. But the results from my biopsy CONFIRMED WITHOUT A DOUBT, MY HOTEL ROOM WAS INDEED INFESTED WITH HUNDREDS OF BED BUGS!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE PROOF. DON'T STAY THERE!!!!!!!!! I was in a handicap room due to a shoulder replacement and I can't pull my big suitcase up flights of stairs. This hotel doesn't have an elevator. I would not want a handicapped individual to have to go through want I went through with the extreme unbareable itching and discomfort. Doesn't say much for Ecolab either!!!! Pictures of my bites are available.
