Motel 6, Gold Beach

Beware of this place! They are more interested in taking advantage of an accident to make a buck than customer service or civility. On the day of leaving for the coast to stay at this Motel 6 the breaker box at my house burned up along with the air conditioning. In my frantic haste to make sure the house was safe and get it fixed (it was 95+ degree weather) I forgot to cancel the room until that evening when the motel called. I explained the circumstance and was told they could rent it and would I like to cancel? I did thinking it was too long a drive that night and they would not loose any money. However, I find later that they charged me for the room anyway! When I called to explain what happened and request that charges be reversed the owner was obstinate and insulting. "They have a 48 hour cancellation policy, no exceptions!" When I pointed out this was unfair, because they were doubling their money and that that attitude not good for their reputation as a service provider she said essentially I don't care. Too bad. It is a nice location but the owner has dubious values.

Old style motel. Big rooms. Comfortable beds. Lots of river views. This motel is located on the side of a hill so it is protected from the strong winds along the coast. And they have a family of deer they feed every day.!!! Kids stayed free (All Motel 6's I guess). Friendly staff. Kind of isolated from the rest of town so it's quiet, but no restaurant located next door, so we had to drive to eat after being in the car all day!! But we would defintely recommend this motel to everyone.

We stayed for three days while looking for a house. The toilet didn't flush and even though the maintenance person was notified it still went unrepaired. Since they were booked for the Memorial day weekend they offered no alternate room or discounted lodging. When we tried to watch some local news, the television kept cutting out every few seconds. One would think that a stay of three days the housekeepers would have offered fresh linens or re-make the beds. However, no service was offered. Very unprofessional.
