super cute and clean to boot
By ,
if your looking for a good quality clean place to stay in san fran i would HIGHLY recommend San Remo. It is charming! I love the european style and the old time bathrooms. The rooms were very clean and so were the communal bathrooms, this is a great place for people of all ages to stay. although it isn't the best location for romance, the beds are creaky and may disrupt your neighbors or vice versa :( That was just my experience. dont let the detract from everything else tho!!!!

So cute
By ,
I spent three nights at the San Remo and found it a very charming place. The location was great too - just a few blocks from Fisherman's Warf and a couple of blocks to Columbus Street with all the fantastic restaurants and shops in North Beach. I was able to walk around the hotel and pick my room. The hotel desk staff was VERY helpful and accomodating with any requests. The rooms are small, but I'd call it cozy. The bathrooms, though shared, are always available, because toilet areas are separate from the shower areas so one does not need to wait around for someone to get out of the bathroom. They were kept clean, however, housestaff could not always keep up with guests who did not follow the adage: "If you sprinkle when you tinkle, please be neat and wipe the seat". It was nice, however, meeting other guests in the bathroom double sink area and chatting. It was very real and communal.

Captured my heart!!
By ,
I have stayed at the San Remo five times during the last eight years, and I love it! The hotel is so charming and so beautifully decorated and so clean. It truly feels like a little home away from home!! The location was also perfect for me because I could just walk a few blocks down to Pier 39. Before my first stay, I was very apprehensive about "shared bathrooms." However, their bathrooms are very clean and I definitely felt comfortable using them, and I felt that the bathrooms (particularly the shower areas) offer a sense of privacy. You just select one of the shower areas and lock the door behind you -- it is very private and safe. I would highly highly recommend this little hotel to anyone!! I LOVE it!! Also, don't forget to try out the massage chair!

Excellent value hotel / good location
By ,
I've stayed here at least five times in the last fifteen years, and the experience has always been great. The prices is right, too, and the location is convenient to the North Beach area of San Francisco. Coit Tower and Washington Square are just a few blocks away. The rooms and bathrooms have always been clean. My fondest memory is of arriving after a long trip, opening the window in my room, and drifting off to sleep to the distant sound of an Italian opera playing on a radio. In general, however, the hotel is quiet, and very comfortable! If you have a car, note that parking here is an issue (as it is anywhere in SF!). Check with the hotel about your parking options.

EXCELLENT LOCATION, SERVICE, CLEAN! PERFECT HOTEL
By ,
The San Remo staff was outstanding and it just was the topping on the cake for such a great location within walking distance of all of San Francisco's highlights. The rooms were clean, the bathrooms spotless, and parking was available on the streets or local garages for a reasonable fee. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

uNIQUE AND cHARMING
By ,
We are not your typical tourists and this place was perfect for us. We shared a bath which had victorian plumbing and was awesome. Our bedroom was small but unique. The whole atmosphere was victorian ans special. What was grat for us was the proximity of Fisherman's Wharf. We were only here for 3 nights. We were able to rent bikes and bike around the Golden Gate Park and the bridge. We took the ferry to Tiburon and then the ferry to another island and biked around that. Our San Remo Hotel was clean, friendly, and quaint and fit our budget needs perfectly.

Old World Style
By ,
I loved the convenient location in North Beach, within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf. I felt as if I had escaped to some little hotel in Rome. There's lots of antique/Victorian decor that enriches the property. I was travelling solo so I didn't mind the shared bath facilities since I was only paying $50 a night! I stayed in a corner room with two windows: one that overlooked the street while the other overlooked the interior courtyard. The service was wonderful. All of the staff were very helpful. Nice quiet getaway for solo travellers!

This place is one of the cutest hotels I've ever stayed at! A very unique place. There were lots of hot, young European men too!
