Wonderful wedding at Le Chambord
We were married at Le Chambord on March 20 and it was a huge success. We chose this place for our wedding because we love the restaurant and have found the food served to be some of the best around here, Our wedding was small (56 guests) and it was beautifully catered by Le Chambord. The food and drink were excellent and the service very attentive and unobtrusive. Manager Michael and his staff (Dave, Heitor, Dianne, Liz, Jackie and others whose names have slipped our minds) were top class. We had had some concerns because of earlier reviews that we had read on the internet, but our experiences at the restaurant and now this wedding have not matched those negative reviews. We stayed at the inn on the Saturday before the wedding and then the night of the wedding. The latter was included in the package presented by Le Chambord, as were champagne, the flowers, wedding cake, a "tasting" and breakfast. Three couples from Canada came to the wedding and stayed at the inn and they enjoyed the experience. Our room was in the original house, was clean and comfortable, large and "in character". Our friends stayed in the Tara building, where the rooms were larger. Overall, the inn is probably due for some redecorating, as it is looking a little worn in places. Pam felt that the pillows weren't soft enough! We had a great dinner all together on the Saturday night before the wedding (12 of us). Wine was good - could have consumed more, but the staff had an overflow dining room and service was understandably affected. We loved the experience, will continue to go to the restaurant for dinner and brunch as often as we can afford - and stay at the inn on our anniversary! Many of our guests said it was a wonderful party (some even said it was the best) Written by Cliff and Pam Narbey

Awful Service, inattentive. Worst ever!
By Alfie, 2/17/11
Been there before and refer people there in the 90s. Now just plain bad. Asked guest to go there and even requested this selection instead of their choice. Nothing at all like in past. Service so slow that guests had to keep getting up to grab manager. 45 mins to get the wine selection in addition to having to wait even for menus. In mid Jan, few guests! Guests were even mad at me for getting them there. Like we were never going to get out. Mild apology from manager: "Sorry all my fault" he says. Ahhggghhh! avoid. Courtesy and service sometimes overcomes unexceptional food but... Hey not here!

Not pleased...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/11
Attended for a dinner reception with 140 others from our organization.. Service staff was very good, as was the banquet room. Didn't have any issues on cleanliness. The food however was very very slow to be served. The salad was served 45 minutes after pasta appetizer plates were picked up and dinner was served 45 minutes after salad plates were picked up and the dinner food was barely warm with the meat being cold. Difficult to enjoy the culinary aspects when food on plate is mostly room temp or colder. Would have thought the food would have been much much better and we'd be leaving the event saying wow!... but that was far from reality. I've had better food and more filling dinners at a local diner. I'll have to give the overall review as low as we were not pleased with the food.

A WONDERFUL place to stay!
By Erin, 6/22/10
When I was trying to find a place to stay in this area, I read up on the reviews & I noticed that they were mostly bad, but I also noticed that they were all at least 2 or 3 years ago. The place looked so charming and unique compared to all the chains hotels out there, so I thought I would give it a chance despite the unfavorable reviews - and I am glad I did!! We were there for a wedding. The Inn was adorable! Our room was nice & big, with a comfortable bed. The restaurant was excellent. Great European style complimentary breakfast - the coffee & daily fresh made scones, croissants & muffins were unforgettable. The service was all around WONDERFUL! We live in Cali, but if we ever get back to this area - we will most definitely stay at Le Chambord - I highly reccomend it!

A great day in the country
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/08
Seventy minutes from N.Y. and it was as if we were in Europe. A charming country inn on about ten acres. Our room was very lovely, clean and confortable. We loved the little frigo bar in the room a great plus. The restaurant was superb, better food than the best places in N.Y. The rack of colorado lamb was the best I ever had.The service was just as good as the food, I cannot wait to go back.

Worst wedding ever!
By ShawnL, 6/1/08
How are They still in business? From the service to the food, just awful. Dirty restrooms, cold food, soggy salad, and rude staff. $100+ a plate for what, I wouldn't go back even if it's free....

worst service ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/31/07
My family and I went to eat at the restaurant and we had a very bad experience. The decoration was acceptable and the food was very good, but not excellent, but the service was very disappointing. The maitrerie was very rude and she was never helpful; she looked down on us because we brought our 5 months old baby, although I asked her if they restaurant accepted babies when I made the reservation. The food came so late that we stayed 5 hours in that restaurant and we had to ask two or even three times what we needed. That day many people were complaining and I could see that no one was pleased. Definitely the service is not according to the high price and the image they want to project. There was never an apology or a smile. For sure, I would never eat in Le Chambord again. NY has much more to offer.

Wedding Awful
By Yes Its Me, 11/8/06
I went here for a wedding during the winter and although it was beautiful outside the service and conditions inside were awful. First, it was freezing inside! The servers and owner were told several times it was cold and we needed heat but the heat never went on. The owner kept saying he turned it up but everyone was still cold. Thankfully, the DJ (not affiliated with place) got the music going so we kept warm by dancing. The place also was not that clean. Thankfully, with dim lights it didn’t look as bad. I never saw the owner once greet, talk to, or congratulate the bride and groom. The bride and groom when I asked them said he didn't talk to them at all and they didn't know why he was so rude. Apparently, being standoffish and not making sure the bride and groom were enjoying themselves was a common theme because the matradee rarely if ever spoke to the bride and groom throughout the wedding other than to ask for the tip. The bride and groom said the owner gave a great presentation selling the place, but didn't back it up. For what the bride and groom paid for they got ripped off. The food was cold and sounded better on paper than tasted. The bartender never showed up so a waitress, who had no clue what she was doing, filled in. Poor girl was stressed out. She told us that this stuff happens all the time. We had to tell her how to make everything. The only saving grace was the cake. It was great looking and tasted amazing! I suggest the cake maker finds a better place to work at that can match up to her ability.

Disgraceful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/1/05
I attended a wedding at this place this past week-end. While outward appearances show a lovely setting, the fact is that the place is god awful. This, despite the fact that they get top dollar here (apparently because of the attractiveness of the setting they are able to pull the wool over peoples eyes). The rooms were terrible with little or no air conditioning. The cocktail hour following the ceremony (which is held outdoors beneath an attractive pavilion)was disgraceful. Not only was there very little to eat , but the service was exceptionally poor with 2 bartenders to attend to the needs of 150 guests on a very hot day. The lines to get drinks ran 20-25 people long and there was little to eat except some meatballs, cheese and vegetables. Then when we went into the ballroom it was even worse. The air conditionng was virtually non-existent-this despite the fact that the place advertises itself as being able to accomodate 200-250 people. If the air conditioning was unable to handle 150, how in the world could it handle 200-250? As to food at the reception, the " 4" star rating this place has was probably bought as in no way is the food even close to that. Perhaps a 2 would suffice, at best. Don't waste your money here as there are many other places where you get good food, good service etc. for far less than this place . my guess is that the people who made the wedding were taken in by the appearances and did not know the truth about this place.
