Marco Polo not impressed

This was a poor hotel for us and an Expedia let down, unfortunately. I stayed here with my 9 year-old son for a half-term skiing trip in Feb 2008. We had a twin room, 419 if you want to avoid it yourself! After each fantastic day’s skiing we returned happy but were received by the very unhelpful and rude owner manning reception. My son’s observation was "He’s not very happy, is he Dad?" Having managed that, we were welcomed back into our room by the smell of the drains emanating from the bathroom. One day this was slightly masked by the intense smell of cigarette smoke in our room (source unknown). Following that, the hotel service continued to deliver to low expectations with a very uncomfortable bed, which leaves you less than refreshed for your next day’s skiing. We hired a car to get to La Massana from Barcelona and this came in useful. After the first day’s long journey on foot with equipment from the hotel through the town to the Cable Car ride up to the pistes, we opted for the car on subsequent days and parking at the pistes was free. I would recommend you try anything else in La Massana (or further afield if you have a car) before staying here. Andorra is fantastic. The ski resort (Vallnord) and the people and the town is just great and you will love it, so don’t let the Marco Polo taint your experience.
Traveller's tip on dining
We dined at El Vesuvio in La Massana and this was just great. The staff are very friendly and the food is good. Also, we rented my son’s ski equipment at ’Esports Caubella.’ The service and prices are unbeatable!
