Great place to stay.

If we ever get back to Victoria this will be the place where we will stay. Sort of like a bed and breakfast in the guise of a hotel. It is within easy walking distance of all the major attractions and finest restaurants in the city. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The room felt like a small apartment.

Great Place to Stay

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the BC Archives, where we recently spent a week conducting research. We were most impressed by the helpfulness of your staff, the quality of the accommodations, and the cleanliness of the entire facility. We stayed in a 1-bedroom suite with a fully equipped kitchen and a living room. While the room was not spacious, it was fine for two people. The recently completed renovations were very impressive. The only problem was that the internet did not work in my room. There is, however, a lovely sitting room with comfy chairs just off the lobby where I could use my laptop. We would definitely stay here again.

Great location, super winter rates

We have stayed at Helm's Inn for a week at a time twice in the last few years for our anniversary and will be returning in 2008. The room we stay in costs $511 CD for the week. It has a large living room, full kitchen and separate bedroom. I would guess it to be about the size on a large one bedroom apartment. It is clean and well appointed. My wife and I love it. It's within walking distance to all the harbor attractions and restaurants. Cons: No view. But the way I look at it, if I just wanted to look at the world, I would just stay home and watch television. Here, you can go out easily and experience beautiful Victoria. Great place to stay!

excellent!

We took family from the USA there last year (my review is late!) and fell in love with the Helms Inn. Very nice, quaint, quiet, friendly staff. Close to everything and we had such an excellent time, this is our place to stay of choice when we come to Victoria. No room in the Inn...we will wait and come when we can stay there. Thank you. G. happy at helm's inn

I love this little hotel. it's like a boutique hotel, a series of 3 former walk-up apartment buildings turned into quaint little hotel rooms. all rooms are clean and updated and have loads of character. the location can't be beat, only a 3 minute walk from the water and across from beacon hill park, not to mention 5 min walk to wharf street and great restaurants and shopping. and beside the legislative buildings and royal BC museum. excellent service, wonderful atmosphere, i stay here time and time again. definately not a "roadside motel"; way too much atmosphere for that.

Helm's Inn is NOT a Bed & Breakfast

Helm's Inn is not a bed and breakfast. It is more like a roadside chain motel/hotel. Nothing wrong with that - but should not be advertising itself as a B&B. People going there expecting a B&B will be a bit surprised and maybe disapointed.

Easy access from ferry dock--near everything in downtown Victoria. Exceptionally clean with all amenities in the room. Continental breakfast was average but welcomed.
