Take Caution
My wife and I arrived at the hotel on a Friday evening. The hotel was really busy with a gala, so the lobby was extremely crowded. The check in staff was friendly and very quick with the check in. We were upgraded to a junior suite, but when we got to the room we discovered the suite was two queen beds instead of the king room we reserved. I called down to the front desk and was told that there were no other rooms available, but after they checked some more they found a king room, but not a suite. The room that we had faced the back of the Maggiano's restaurant, which on a Friday night was quite loud. We left the hotel Saturday afternoon for a day around the city. The hotel is in a great location with restaurants and shopping all nearby. We arrived back at the hotel at 4 p.m. and our room hadn't been cleaned. Housekeeping came to the door at 4:45, and then we found out that the hotel was going to be without power for the next four to six hours. The outage was to begin at 5 p.m. With this being Valentine's Day it really ruined our plans for dinner, as it was impossible to get ready in the dark. The hotel moved us to the Marriott West Loop, I called the manager at the Hilton to express how poor the rooms were at the Marriott. He was extremely rude. I had been on hold for 15 minutes, and could have cared less. He even hung up on me because I asked for a room that was comparable to what we paid for. The staff at the Marriott on the other hand was fantastic. Through no fault of their own they apologized to us for the problems at the Hilton. The front desk staff even brought a rose up to my wife.
As far as the Hilton Post Oak the location was great, but that's really the only good thing I can say about it. I would avoid this hotel and look at either the JW Marriott or the Doubletree instead.
