I Love This Hotel!!
By Charles, 06/26/09
I've paid for many a room night in the Hollywood Blvd. area over the years, including staying at the Roosevelt - and Orchid Suites is my favorite of all the place I've stayed. I worked in hotels for seven years, and I've never been so impressed. The room prices are amazing, just an incredible value. The rooms are huge, sparkling clean, and surprisingly quiet. Both of the rooms I stayed in had full kitchens with cookware, plates and cutlery. The Orchid Suites parking garage is FREE (most others aren't), and is very easy to get in and out of (many at other hotels garages are steep and difficult to maneuver in) with plenty of spaces to go around. The location is the best!! Right behind the Hollywood and Highland Center. Wonderful staff!! Don't get me wrong, this is not a luxury hotel, but I can't say enough about how clean it is. The furniture is a tiny bit worn, and the TV a little bit on the small side, but I don't go to Hollywood to spend a lot of time in a hotel room and watch TV. Smokers are very well accommodated with nice ashtrays along the mezzanines and at the roof garden. I didn't try the free coffee, because me and The Coffee Bean across the street go way back. Thanks Orchid, I'll be back soon!!

This place is terrible.
By Edge, 01/23/09
My mother booked this hotel for their first time visit here in the US. The only room available for 4 people is a smoking room which cost $140+/night. We really didn't care if it was smoking or non-smoking since a room is a room, as long as it's clean then it should be ok, right? We we're very much mistaken, the moment we entered the room I almost wanted to vomit because of the stench of the place. Not to brag, but I do quite a bit of travelling myself, and I know what a decent hotel room looks like, this place is just absolutely ghastly. So I got on my computer and I immediately checked out the nearby hotels thru hotwire, thank God I found a room at Westin with 2 beds for 4 people that costs $89/night. Can you believe it? So we called the frontdesk and asked the lady to just cancel our reservation. When asked why, I politely told her that the place simply wasn't right and I found a different hotel to stay for the night. She was rude and nagged about how we we're spending money at their hotel and we wouldn't even use it. I was just thinking in my head that THIS PLACE IS SO BAD THAT I WAS WILLING TO PAY HER GOOD MONEY JUST TO GET US OUT OF THERE. Save yourself a headache and a few bucks, get a room from one of those hotel booking sites and get a deal unlike this one. This place is simply terrible.

a hidden gem
By Christine, 03/07/08
3 years ago i was staying at the Rooseveldt hotel, where i had stayed many times before.I was so disappointed wuth the service, staff attitude, noise levels in the rooms and inflated prices,i was walking around the neighbourhood when i stumbled upon the orchid suites{my lucky day}Since then i have stayed at the o.s and only have good things to report. They have a small pool, rooftop terrace, laundry room, secure free underground parking. All the rooms i have stayed in have been great-staff very helpful and courteous-building very secure etc.Building is a little dated, but everything is clean and you can't beat the price and the location

Wonderful Gem in the Heart of Hollywood!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/02/08
This hotel is tucked behind the Kodak Theater on a side street. It is just a minute slow walk to the delivery entrance of the Hollywood and Highland complex! The hotel parking is secure, the staff is friendly and the price cannot be beat! The rooms used to to be apartments, so they can be HUGE. If you want a place with a great view, then don't open the curtains. We had a wall to view. But that was alright, we came to Hollywood for the Boulevard, the Observatory, and all the other fun things! This hotel is a great refuge from the chaos that is L.A. Our bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, we had a kitchen, and plenty of room to lounge. We truly enjoyed our week's stay at this hotel and highly recommend it to all. NOTES: The hotel is handicap accessible via the elevator just off the below-ground garage. The Hollywood and Highland delivery entrance is a gentle ramp. Very easy walk from the hotel. Just watch for trucks unloading. The free bus to Griffith Park Observatory is also at the Hollywood and Highland complex on the Orange Street side.

Can't beat it.
By tomas, 02/21/08
For the price you can't beat it. Right behind the Kodak theatre. Walk out the hotels front door and hang a right and a quick left and walk up to Highland then to Hollywood blvd...or hang a right and walk up the ramp right into Kodak theatre lobby and mall. I'm pretty sure this place was just another small apartment complex for singles and striving actors, now it settles nicley as an inexpensive suite hotel for folks visiting Universal Studios or Hollywood.

Good location , Good Price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/07/08
Very clean and conveniently located in the heart of Hollywood. The strip attractions are walking distance. A bit tricky to find it. Lots of things to see and do in the area without having to pay for parking.

Great Location, friendly staff, recommended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
I stayed for 2 nights and booked at the last minute. The room was clean and tidy and very large with full kitchen, not that I used it. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a reasonable standard of accommodation at a good price. There was the 5 star hotel next door if you have lots of money.

excellent location
By martin, 03/05/07
Great location if you want to see downtown Hollywood; safe walking distance to attractions, even at night. Secure underground parking is a plus. Be warned that the hotel is very old and outdated.
