Fort Pitt Motel, Oakdale

I was visiting a friend in Pittsburgh and needed a place to stay for 2 nights. After a lot of comparison shopping I decided to give Fort Pitt Motel a try. Their website was nice, and the rooms looked very appealing. And the price was almost $20 less a night than most places. That should of been my first clue. According to their website the majority of their rooms seem to be jacuzzi suites. I opted for the "Standard" room. I cannot speak for their jacuzzi rooms but the "standard" room left me itching to get out of there. The room looked like its been in dire need of renovating for at least 15 years. The carpet was old and dirty. The air didnt work. It smelt of smoke with a ashtray on the bed table. The decor looked from the 70s. The bathroom was so dirty and run down. There were hair in the shower and a old soap on the floor. The tiles were old and moldy looking. (Never had the guts to use it, just sponge baths for me this trip) There was hair in the sink and on wall around the sink and the sink itself was rusty. I rubbed a piece of toilet paper in it and it came back with quite a smear of rust. The ceiling tiles had seen better days 30-40 years ago. The bed was not made, just the very old and dirty looking bedspread pulled over some rumpled sheets.Who knows when the sheets were changed last. I should of ran when I could but I really didnt feel like looking for another place that late and I did bring my own sheet so I just covered the whole thing and tried to make the best of it. I woke up after only 2 hours with the feeling something(s) were crawling on me. I never did get back to sleep. The next night I did a little better with 5 hours sleep. The whole time I was itchy. Two positive things about my stay. The lady at check in seemed nice enough and I never did see any bugs in my room.There was plenty of webs in dirty windows but never did see anything. Take my advice and spend another $20. For the price I paid I wasnt surprised that the room was outdated but it should of at least been clean.

This is the best motel for the money!!! you can get a room with a large heart shaped whirlpool tub, fire place, balcony, table, king bed. lost of great food near by fo take out. very clean!! and did I tell you there is a small fridge to keep drinks or food cold! My husband and I love to come here for a nice little get away, we also stayed here on our wedding night!

Stayed there in room #3 it was great nice, clean,the lady in the office was so very nice.So we decided to go back this weekend!Called got them to hold a room for us because they fill up really quick, so now we will be staying in room #15.I think it is a wonderful place!!! Katrinka C.

We had a friend recommend this place to us. We enjoyed ourselves. The hottub was roomy for two (my husband is a bit bigger too) we brought our own bubble bath all though the motel provides some. The room had everything we needed.It was a good change of pace for us, and it was affordable. The only thing that I'd have them change is get a bigger tv and king size pillows for the king size bed.

My husband and i went to stay there for a weekend back in early summer and we had a horrible expierence. there was mouse droppings in they whole room, including the bathroom. as the night went on there had been even more...meaning the mouse was still in the bungalow suit. We decided to let it go and since it was getting late i was ready for bed...as i pulled down the covers there was red markings all over the fitted sheet (womens menst.) it was terrible we packed our things and left i dropped the key off with some cleaning lady and since it was so early there was no one at front desk just yet (which was kinda werid) but i called around 3 pm and demanded i talked to the owner. She denied any mouse droppings and also denied that there was anything on the sheets i took pictures of it ALL. So i demanded all my money back cause i was so un happy she said ill give you $20 i said forget it you need it more than i do but i said my story will get out cause it would have costed me that just in gas to get there since i dont live nearby. So just a little warning the place was dirty and the workers were all so rude and inconsiderate. THANKS!!!!

i stayed there for my honeymoon and it was excelant we are going to go there again to celebrate our wedding aniverseries thanks for the great service

My wife and I were looking for an escape weekend, and this place was great. It's the Poconos in Pittsburgh. We stayed in cottage #17, which featured a heart shaped Jacuzzi-type tub, gas fireplace, mirrored walls and ceiling,:) and nice mood lighting. It has a nice little private deck overlooking a wooded area. Most important to my wife, the place was CLEAN. There is a large selection of restaurants and shopping in nearby Robinson Township, (about a 15 minute drive). What a fun way to spend an overnighter.:) We will be back again.

If you want a quiet romantic spot, that is just a quick drive away from all the shopping, dining, and night life you can handle then this is the perfect place for you.

i found no dislikes about the motel at all........ been comeing there for many years........ love it....... its beautiful..... inside and out...... and the workers.. owners....... excellent people....... thank you....... seee ya soon.....

I was looking for a place nobody could find us at and it was the best anniversary away from everyone with tons of privacy. It brought back many good memories... We will be back again!
