12 reviews for Missouri Flats Inn, Williston
Very poor management
By Matt, 02/02/10
Made reservations several months in advance. Specifically asked for a 2 double beds and was quoted a price. Upon check in, I was immediately told that although they knew I asked for a double room, that "somehow" it had been changed and now I had a single Queen room. I needed more than one bed so front desk clerk "graciously" offered to give a rollaway bed in the room..no charge. However, the room rate would be the same as the double, no discount for their mistake! Everything in town was booked up so I had no choice. I maybe shouldn't complain since the young couple that came in after me had their reservations completely lost and they were left without any room. I asked to speak to manager upon check in (Fri night) and check out (Sat morning). Was told that no "manager" would be in until Monday morning. Left my name and number, never heard back. I am not wasting any more time on them and instead am directing my efforts towards saving others from the same hassle. Hotel is not filthy, but it is dated and very ordinary. Rooms are rather small (especially the single queen bed rooms). Air condition/heating units are old and either leave a room too hot or too cold. Appears to be under some sort of remodel that never got off the ground. It's almost like some husband has a "honey do" list of handyman projects around the hotel but most of the tasks are nowhere near completion. Location is as good as anywhere in Williston, once you get past the fact that you are in nowhere Williston ND. Bottom line, staying here is one step above bringing your own blanket and sleeping under the stars. There are definitely better options in the Williston area. I learned my lesson not to stay here again.

Manager is a discriminating uptight liar!
By Cheryl, 01/14/10
Natalie, I am so glad that you expressed this incident! I was staying at Missouri Flats Inn when this took place with my two teenage sons. Upon checkout I was confronted by this Frankie Aars lady who accused my sons of destroying the great room. She told me that they will keep my credit card on file and charge me for whatever damages were caused by my sons!!! Just because they are teenagers does not mean that you have any right to accuse them of being any part of this! We were here visiting a sick relative, NEVER went in the great room and had no part in trashing it, as she claims happened. We will never again stay here. Frankie Aars, how DARE you be age discriminant against my children! We all know it was NOT the hand sanitizer, unless you were drinking it! Help your business: be more professional and learn some respect! I will be pressing charges if you dare charge my credit card for damages that were not caused by my sons or I, and by reading other reviews, were probably not even caused at all! Money hungry failing business is all I have to say.

Manager who said they owned the hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/10/10
We to were visitors to the hotel when the who ever she was accused /lectured a group of hockey players who had only just arrived at "her" hotel. Nothing was broken, Another group had pizza in one of the common areas and left the pizza boxes neatly near a trash can. What a CRIME? The broken glass in the hot tub appeared to be from a bar glass and had probably been there from the guests who had to much happy hour not the hockey players. Sorry I don't think the hockey players had been at the bar. We were not with the hockey players but were lectured and accused as well. My children were never left unattended and certainly resent the accusatory language. We had just gotten back to hotel from eating and were in the lobby using the internet. Perhaps she drank the hand sanitizer or had alchohol flavored gum.

Response to Natalie
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/10
I am astounded by this review by Natalie and would first like to offer an apology to anyone who might read this review.Although I was called to the hotel at approximately 10pm on the evening in question, I did not reak of alcohol.More likely of Hand Santizer as the mess that I found caused by Hockey Teams visiting the area for a hockey tournament was incredible!! The Front Desk clerk called because she had been unable to control several teenage children and had discovered a massive mess in the Great Room of the hotel.Upon arriving at the hotel I encountered several teens in the Lobby milling around the Business Center computer. I immediately went into the Great Room and discovered the area in a shambles; food all over the floor, crushed into the furniture, furniture out of place, etc.The Hot Tub area was covered with the same disarray except the food was in the Hot Tub along with several pieces of broken glass. All I could do at that point was close the room to any further use, with much disgust. At the same time I had been informed that the toilet in the public bathroom was clogged.Upon entering that bathroom I discovered that someone had unrolled an entire roll of toilet paper into the stool.Knowing I could not leave this mess I went into Housekeeping and got a pair of gloves and proceeded to clean out the stool.I will not repeat what else was found. After inspecting the mess I went to the Front Desk to use hand sanitizer (which is an alcohol product) and then approached the group in the Lobby.I asked who they might be with and asked if they knew who had been in the Great Room.Immediately I was attacked by Natalie(who was not even part of their group) asking what my problem was.I did try several times to explain the problem, but could not go without interruption by Natalie. At one point she did claim that I reaked of alcohol and would not accept my explanation nor the desk clerk explanation of it being the hand sanitizer. Was she part of the damage or where these teenagers part of the problem?I cannot say due to the simple fact that immediately they departed for their rooms.I would like to ask why it is these teams seem to think that they can come into an establishment and run rampant without any control or concern for their actions resulting in damage to the facility? Why is it that their parents or coaches maintain do form of control either? We appreciate the fact that they choose our facility, and we try to provide the utmost in hospitality to all of our guests, but claims such as this are totally unfounded and the damage is not at all appreciated, just costly. Frankie Aars, Operations Manager

Hotel owner was drunk!
By Natalie, 12/29/09
I have never stayed in such a ridiculus place. Hotel manager came in hotel lobby about 10pm reaking of alcohol accusing hotel guests of breaking things in her hotel but when asked what was broken she couldn't answer. Absolutely not family friendly! Who wants a drunk woman yelling at their kids!

Experience I wish I could forget!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/01/09
If there was a rating below one, that is what I would give it! Prices went up since we had booked the room..$15 higher than when we booked it. I was by the staff that they could not change the rate for me even though when I booked the room I was quoted a different rate. If I would have known that there would be that much of a price increase I would have never stayed there. The rooms were standard, nothing special. They did have Continental Breakfast, but it wasnt anything to brag about. cold cereal, coffee, and toast. Wouldnt stay here again.

Friendly Staff, Great Improvements
By Lindsey, 03/19/09
My experience with Missouri Flats Inn was great. When I booked the room over the phone, the lady was very helpful and found me just the right room. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised by all of the recent remodeling. They have put forth quite an effort to make the place look great. The new breakfast area is beautiful and they offer a nice selection for a continental breakfast, waffles were great. The pool was not operating, but they did have dvd players and movies for rent at the front desk. I would visit this place again. Very clean.

Customer Service is awful.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/09
Showing up for the dart tournament turned out to be quite a hassle for an unprepared and crabby staff. Lobby was a mess and clogged with people while I watied for 2 hours for my room after being told fifteen minutes. Room wasn't anything special and not worth the price I paid. I think I might have felt better if the staff acted like they cared just a bit.

Changes indeed!
By Joseph, 01/12/09
I must admit I hadn't stayed at this hotel before but from what the negative reviews below are saying, this place is a very different hotel from what it was before. Friendly staff, clean room, quiet and peaceful stay. I needed a room pretty much last minute and they got me in when nobody else in town could. My experience was very positve. It's nice to know I have a place to rest my head in Williston.
