Worst experience in a Ramada
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/31/05
It was very late. I was so tired. I had just driven from Denver, CO. to Barstow non-stop. I went into the Ramada inn because it was the first Hotel exiting the freeway, there was vacancy, but not a really helpful clerk, non the less we booked 2 rooms a Single and a Double. The clerk couldn't tell me what time breakfast (offered by the hotel) was not available. OK we went to our rooms. On the way to the rooms we saw that the carpet, was old, oily, covered in dirt or something, it had big ugly stains as you walked through the corridor, I was wishing not to fall, because of how horribly disgusting the carpet looked, probably infested with germs. Well we arrived at our rooms and it was ok at a glance, Really I was so tired I didn't care. Laid down and slept. First rays of light that came in through the never closing drapes, and hit me in the face, ok, I woke up, not to happy for the rude awakening, but went to the toilet. With the morning light I could see the room, it was old, it smelled kind of funky, like humidity and dirt, in the bathroom the extractor was dangling from the ceiling directly above the shower, it was disturbing to have that thing over your head while you're in the shower, the bathtub was another thing, it was, How can I say this? It was not only cracked, but the crack had risen, kinda like a little volcano, or some sort of eruption, I cut my foot with the bathtub because of this, it was not a good experience so far, I went down to the front desk to check out, and the lady Who was there took a long time to come up to me, even though I was the only guest at that time on the lobby, after which she asked the same questions she asks everybody all the time, How was you're stay? How did you find your room, and all that, to which I replied that it was not a good room, I informed her of all that was wrong in the room and that I had cut my foot with the bathtub, she did not apologize nor anything similar, she called the maintenance guy over and asked him to go check my room!!! Can you imagine how I felt? After that, she took my AmEx card and swiped it without hassle, I couldn't believe it! She did not even made eye contact! plus it was expensive, this is not my idea of what a Ramada inn used to be!! I know of motels that are much, much nicer and cleaner than this dirty Ramada inn in Barstow. Really I did hope for a discount, probably a courtesy or the least an apology from the manager! but nothing! the only thing I got was a stink eye from the maintenance guy and my check for the night! I will never, never stay in another Ramada inn in my life, and I will make all things possible to tell as many people as I can of my bad experience in the Ramada inn.
