Simpson House Inn, Santa Barbara

The grounds were so lovely and provided us much needed serenity. We were treated like VIP guests and upgraded upon arrival. We had breakfast delivered to our cottage; two staff members prepared a table with china place settings for us. From the whirlpool tub to the excellent service we were sad to leave such a wonderful place.

Just loved this place. It's near one of our favorite parks, and is situated near some of the best restaurants in Santa Barbara. The sprawling grounds made it conducive for contemplation and relaxation. We stayed in the Hayloft, away from the main house, and loved the solitude and views from the balcony. The bed was one of the best I've ever experienced...Loved the attentive staff, and the small gestures that made it a very special place. I can see why my friends have recommended it so highly.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a three-night stay in the Abbeywood Cottage. Everything was wonderful! The food and service was outstanding. Best of all, it was not your typical bed and breakfast atmosphere. Very quiet and private. Beautiful grounds and furnishings. We're looking forward to going back soon.

The service was great, we felt completely relaxed and catered too while we stayed here. Definitely a great place to stay and great value for the quality.

We were visiting friends and stayed here to treat ourselves. What a great choice. The quick service by the staff, the comfort of the room, the nice afternoon tea, all added to our relaxing stay. Santa Barbara is great, but the Simpson House was the icing on the cake.

We are Santa Barbara locals. We needed a place for my mother-in-law last year to stay during her yearly Easter visit for a week. She has very refined tastes and we needed somewhere she would be comfortable and pampered. The Simpson House was perfect in EVERY way! I can't recommend it highly enough. I was so shocked when I read at the previous reviewers comments they are so far from our own experience and obviously from those before him. My extremely happy Mother-in-law will be staying at the Simpson House again this year and we hope for many more to come. Thank you Simpson House for your character, charm and being such a diamond in Santa Barbara.

When we arrived at the Simpson House Inn in Santa Barbara my husband and I immediately felt the stresses of our lives slip away. All our senses began to relax and feel renewed. The staff was extremely attentive. Our cottage was romantic and light and airy. We spent a lot of time walking around and sitting in the serenity of the beautiful gardens. Even the air smelled fragrant from the tree blossoms. The breakfast was outstanding and it was nice to eat outside on the veranda. Santa Barbara is such a lovely city to explore. We found that we could walk all over town. But our favorite part of the whole weekend was the time we spent at the Simpson House. We did not want to leave. It helped that as we drove down the driveway back to our hurried lives, we promised each other that we would return soon. We highly recommend this place!‎ Pam

The staff were really helpful, the room was wonderful and the gardens were magnificent. Such a tranquil place. We had a fabulous weekend there and in Santa Barbara.

We rented five rooms for a fifty year anniversary on January 23, 2010 for a cost of $2417.81. Our room did not have a working heater so the owner gave us a portable heater that was inadequate. It cycled on and off all night making for a restless night. In the morning my wife was taking a shower and the shower head flew off hitting her on the chin. Her chin was cut. Later we learned the owner did not fix the heater because it would cost over $4000.00. I would not recommend Simpson House Inn to anyone

Simpson House was recommended to us by friends, and how pleased we are that our friends shared this wonderful place with us. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Simpson House, stayed in Robert & Julia's room, and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The staff, the rooms, both private and public, the grounds, the food...all absolutely the best! And, you can't beat Santa Barbara as a destination city. I cannot wait to return, which we're hoping will be this fall!
