Owner with bad attitude
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/08
The inn is fine...food is so-so...but, Nancy, the "owner" is absolutely the worst innkeeper I have ever encountered...She was constantly yelling at her employees, berrating them in front of guest, other employees, and anyone else within earshot. Absolutely a repulsive creature and has no business whatsoever running an inn. We went there for a romantic get-away...not to hear all about this insane person's personal problems.

HERITAGE INN LACKS THE WELCOMING FEELING ONE COMES TO EXPECT OF THE B&B EXPERIENCE
By P, 1/26/08
Date of stay: Sunday 1/20-21/08 Lovely victorian mansions transplanted near Old Town San Diego. First impression of Heritage Park Inn as walking up, CHAIN ACROSS STAIRCASE, NOT AT ALL WELCOMING & neither was the owner Charles. 3pm check-in is strictly inforced at least we got a referral for lunch after asking. RETURNED LATER WITH FEELING THEY HAVE TO LET US IN NOW! A totally new experience for us & B&B's Check-in,Charles promptly took our credit card for "The Drawing Room" $260.00 per night with jacuzzi spa tub. Surprise to us, our room is next door not in main house. Charles gave us two keys one for room & front door other for front door to main house, breakfast at 8:30AM. No mention regarding space heater in room or jacuzzi spa tub. Used space heater for warmth & jacuzzi next morning, BUT DOESN'T WORK! Candlelit breakast was very lovely & enticing but ended there. Tea like coffee & thawed out bitter tasting blueberries over melon not so good. Next came a Kesh, not exactly a choice for men. No french toast this time. Needless to say husband opted for another breakfast in Old Town. Questioned staff regarding unusable jacuzzi spa tub. Did you press button? YEAH! I asked to speak to the owner & was told they didn't know when he'd be arriving. Finally they have Charles on the phone to talk to me. "DID YOU USE THE SPACE HEATER IN ROOM? In my mind I'm thinking what does this have to do with using the Jacuzzi spa tub. Next I'm thinking, WHY DIDN'T YOU INFORM OF THIS WHEN WE CHECKED IN, ISIN'T THAT INNKEEPING 101, EXPLAIN TO THE LODGER HOW TO USE THINGS IN THE ROOM. IE, SPACE HEATER & JACUZZI SPA TUB. I asked for a credit & was given $40.00. We did take the Old Town Trolley after checking out, which I highly recommend, takes you all over San Diego Downtown,Coronado Island,Balboa Park etc. As for THE HERITAGE INN,It greatly lacks the welcoming feeling one comes to expect of the B&B experience. "GREAT EXPECTATIONS BUT HUGE LET DOWN" Resident of Pasadena, Ca.

Will go back!
By Missy, 1/5/06
Beautiful, relaxing, romantic. We will certainly go back. Everyone was so helpful, suggesting restuarants and things to do, even making us reservations and procuring a free dessert for us. The food at breakfast was gourmet. Seriously. And the room was wonderful. We spent our 5 year anniversary there, and loved every minute of it!

Excellent service - great staff!
By Nancy, 11/29/05
We have never felt so pampered - from the time we checked in to the delicious afternoon tea and classic movie that we watched in the parlor, the innkeepers were welcoming and eager to make our stay special. Breakfast was delicious (George is a fabulous chef)and served in a lovely dining room by candlelight - how different from a hotel! We will never forget how we were welcomed with a warm smile by Ellie and pampered by Nancy, Charles and Michele. We will most definitely return and will tell all our friends that this San Diego's best place to stay!

Beautiful and Relaxing
By Maria, 10/23/05
My husband I enjoyed our one night getaway at the Inn very much. The room was very cozy and the innkeepers were very hospitable. The bottomless homemade cookie jar was one of the key features for me. Everything from checking in, afternoon tea, and breakfast was absolutely wonderful. The only thing I disliked was having to check out. We will be visiting again. Next time we'll try another room. Thank you for making our stay very comfortable.

Simply, the perfect get-away
By Kirin, 5/23/05
The Heritage Park Inn is a classic Bed and Breakfast. My fiance and I received personalized attention the moment we rang the bell to the restored Victorian home, which sits atop Heritage Park in San Diego's Old Town. We were given a tour of the parlour, gardens, and our room, which was conveniently located near the complimentary endless cookie jar and coffee station. The scent of fresh baked cookies stayed with us the entire weekend. Tea was wonderul, with adorable and tasty accompaniments. My fiance took it upon himself to wear his guest bathrobe to tea (to the envy of other male guests whose wives wouldn't let them). Breakfast was delicious, and the staff made the stay even more pleasant. Each room has a journal, and it was nice reading about previous guests' stays. We love Old Town as well-many things to do. All in all, a great romantic getaway.

Fantastic Victorian homes in Old Town San Deigo.
By BonnieD, 4/7/04
The accommodations at this fantastic B&B are in two Victorian homes side by side in a Victorian park next to Old Town, San Diego. Convenient to the trolley stop in Old Town and the 5 Freeway. Excellent service, accommodations and hospitality. Breakfast and tea included offers plenty of food for the hungry. Fantastic experience in a safe neighborhood. I can't wait to go back.
