HERITAGE INN LACKS THE WELCOMING FEELING ONE COMES TO EXPECT OF THE B&B EXPERIENCE
Date of stay: Sunday 1/20-21/08
Lovely victorian mansions transplanted near Old Town San Diego. First impression of Heritage Park Inn as walking up, CHAIN ACROSS STAIRCASE, NOT AT ALL WELCOMING & neither was the owner Charles. 3pm check-in is strictly inforced at least we got a referral for lunch after asking. RETURNED LATER WITH FEELING THEY HAVE TO LET US IN NOW! A totally new experience for us & B&B's Check-in,Charles promptly took our credit card for "The Drawing Room" $260.00 per night with jacuzzi spa tub. Surprise to us, our room is next door not in main house. Charles gave us two keys one for room & front door other for front door to main house, breakfast at 8:30AM. No mention regarding space heater in room or jacuzzi spa tub. Used space heater for warmth & jacuzzi next morning, BUT DOESN'T WORK!
Candlelit breakast was very lovely & enticing but ended there. Tea like coffee & thawed out bitter tasting blueberries over melon not so good. Next came a Kesh, not exactly a choice for men. No french toast this time. Needless to say husband opted for another breakfast in Old Town. Questioned staff regarding unusable jacuzzi spa tub. Did you press button? YEAH! I asked to speak to the owner & was told they didn't know when he'd be arriving. Finally they have Charles on the phone to talk to me. "DID YOU USE THE SPACE HEATER IN ROOM? In my mind I'm thinking what does this have to do with using the Jacuzzi spa tub. Next I'm thinking, WHY DIDN'T YOU INFORM OF THIS WHEN WE CHECKED IN, ISIN'T THAT INNKEEPING 101, EXPLAIN TO THE LODGER HOW TO USE THINGS IN THE ROOM. IE, SPACE HEATER & JACUZZI SPA TUB. I asked for a credit & was given $40.00. We did take the Old Town Trolley after checking out, which I highly recommend, takes you all over San Diego Downtown,Coronado Island,Balboa Park etc.
As for THE HERITAGE INN,It greatly lacks the welcoming feeling one comes to expect of the B&B experience.
