RUINED MY VACATION!!!!

This hotel refused to refund a block of rooms, even though I called and cancelled 48 hours prior to the particular night's stay. Apparently, they have some policy that if you book a block of rooms and prepay through any travel service (Travelocity, Expedia, Hotels.com, etc....), you must give them 72 hours prior to the FIRST night of your stay, to cancel any night within that stay - otherwise, they keep your money!!! However, if you book nightly through them, they only require 24 hours notice. At least, that's what the manager tried to explain in a very guilty and befuddled manner. No one explained that policy at check in - and I was never provided a copy of it. To cancel a stay on Friday, for a Monday thru Friday stay, I would have had to have cancelled the Friday before. So, there goes $600 of my money! TRAVELER - DON"T STAY HERE - Choose one of the other lovely hotels on the beaches!!!!!

Enjoyed our visit

Great views. We saw otters every day feeding right in front of our room. Saw dolphins 2 out of the 4 days. There were a lot of birds, but they weren’t a problem. They mostly stayed on the rocks just off the shore and it was fun watching the pelicans dive bomb into the ocean. Bring binoculars. The room was big with a desk and a table. There was a balcony with 2 chairs & a table (could probably get another chair out there). There were 2 sinks, 1 in the bathroom and 1 in the room. Both had large countertops. This allowed a lot of flexibility with 4 people. Breakfast was a bit sparse and crowded. Since the weather was ok, we were able to eat by the pool with no problems. Housekeeping did a good job cleaning the room and the front desk was helpful. Had trouble getting Wi-Fi in our room. They gave us a receiver that solved the problem. However, we had to plug it into an Ethernet port. This worked with our laptop, but my son's IPod Touch did not have a port. He had to go outside to use it. Would not recommend for people with small children. There are steep cliffs and even though there is a fence, it could still be risky. There is a path to a small beach, but it is long and steep. The beach did not have fine sand (kind of pebbly), but it did have some tide pools. Our kids, 12 & 15, enjoyed it. Pismo Beach is a mile or so south. We walked there one day and drove another. They charge to park around Pismo Beach until 6pm. We would stay again, depending on the price. We paid $116 midweek, but I saw that some days they charge $200 - $300. Except for the views, there is nothing about the place that would justify paying that amount.

HOUSEKEEPING, JUST TRY TO GET IT

The views from our room were fabulous. HOWEVER, housekeeping, we asked if our room could be cleaned as we were expecting local guests and we were told our room could not be cleaned until all the rooms were done for incoming guests. So I guess if you are coming in they care about you but if you are already there they think they have you and do not care to accomodate. We would have loved to stay here again but this slap in the face took care of that. We come up to this area about every other month and have not returned here.

good location - but hotel disappointing

Great location close to the cliff, but similar locations can also be accessed nearby without staying at the hotel. I was really looking forward to our stay at this hotel but was greatly disappointed. I ended up paying far too much, as for the same price we could have gotten better hotels in Pismo beach. We got a room that smelled really badly, almost not acceptable. Outside the patio were beer cans and cigarette stumps laying. The breakfast area has 4 small tables - a chance to get a table is almost null (don't know how this works at high season!). To get breakfast at all is very difficult as the room is completely crowded. From the BW hotels we've stayed so far, this has been the worst experience and I would strongly reccommend to look for something else at Pismo Beach.

Freindly Staff, Beautiful view. Nice & clean room. Loved how we had a view of the ocean. Also enjoyed the landscape and being able to walk around. The location is close to good restaurants as well.

Awesome!

This was the first time for me in Pismo Beach, and what a beautiful place! The hotel was right on the beach with to die for views. Very nice room with all I could have asked for. Very quiet surroundings and the free breakfast wasn't bad either.

Peace and Quite

On a tour of Highway 1, my husband a I decided to spend the night in Pismo Beach. Well we enjoyed our stay we acyually extended it to two nights. We took walks and feed the rabbit that hide in the bushes off the walkway facing the coast, We are looking for our next visit to Pismo Beach and plan on staying at Shelter Cove again.
