This two-story bed-and-breakfast makes for a deliciously secluded and romantic Monterey County stay. It is very bright and sunny inside, with rooms that have colorful couches and beds that have a modern art deco flavor to them. A few rooms have fireplaces for an added romantic glow. Throw in a daily bouquet of flowers and you have an affordable and cozy romantic spot. The service from the efficient and personable staff is first-rate.
We stayed here for two nights in late November. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. It had a huge bed with tons of pillows and a fireplace. It felt so welcoming! I wish my room at home was like it. It just made you feel right at home right away. The property is nice and quiet, and the staff was helpful and friendly. The location is a big plus - a couple blocks off the main street so you miss the confusion of traffic and people but are still within walking distance to everything. I have definitely recommended it to friends and family.
I left message about two weeks before we were to arrive but never received a call back. The rooms have no A/C and our room was at least 90 degrees. We opened all the windows and doors but had to close them when we went to sleep because there were no screens on any of them. When we called they said all the rooms had been recently updated. At best it was a budget job. The rooms look dated and very basic.
Carmel Country Inn is a jewel! The staff is very accommodating, the rooms are comfortable and the decor is so warming! This by far is the best for your money!
