Disappointing
By Vegas Bound, 05/01/09
We spent a weekend there, greeted by only one owner.....the chef. He was rude, very off putting. The walls are VERY thin as they state, so if you have rude neighbors (like we had) you won't have a pleasant night sleep. Way over priced, as a B&B the service is lackluster. There is no one around after hours and you're basically left on your own. If you call the owner for assistance, he sounds annoyed. The owners do not stay in the mansion itself, their residence is up the hill about 100 feet. Breakfast was nice, best thing about our stay was the wonderfully sweet woman working the dining room. She was terrific. My biggest problem was how unfriendly the owner(s)were, evidently Stanley was on tour with Neil Diamond so we did not meet him. If they offered me a HUGE discount I might consider spending my money there again. We choose to stay an extra night in Big Bear and headed to the Pine Knot Guest Ranch, more bang for your buck and friendlier service. Again, Knickerbocker's only gem was that sweet woman at breakfast.

Expensive, Plus Rude Owners
By South County Gal, 02/06/09
Not just one, but both owners were rude to us. Their attitude ruined the weekend for us. Also, this place is about $50 too high from a value perspective. The food was good.

Gotta love The Knick...
Spent my birthday weekend here & rented the penthouse suite. My girl & I picked the best weekend right after Memorial Day so Big Bear was very mellow as compared to the previous weekend. My first time to BB as well & we had the whole mansion to ourselves. The room was very nice & large & the private deck was the best! The staff was very helpfull & attentive & Anna made THEE best breakfast! Had my bday dinner at The Bistro in the Mansion & it was excellent. You get what you pay for & this place was worth the money. A very cool place to spend a weekend & will definetly be back.
