THE BLOCK-EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS AWFUL!
By Angelique, 1/1/09
We were very excited when we booked our hotel room at the block. The pictures on the website looked really nice and the amenities did too. Well...It was nothing like on the website. The place was a dump. The people that worked at the hotel were rude and did not have any clue what they were doing. They charged me for my room twice, and had no idea how to refund me. We were promised lift tickets to Snow Valley for every night we stayed at the hotel and then when we got there they said they weren't doing that anymore. I would never have paid $250 a night for a room without the incentive of free lift tickets. In the first room they put us in the TV didn't work, so we complained and they moved us. The room was crappy and old and had holes in the walls and smelled old and musty. The heater looked like it was from 1960. It was broken and dirty. The picture on the TV that worked was fuzzy, the bed was old and uncomfortable, and the bedding was cheap and thin with holes in the sheets. The towels were gross and so was the bathtub. They didn't give you any of the nice toiletries you get in any other hotel. The parking was a mess! There are not enough spaces for the number of rooms. The lot was filled with snow and ice and not plowed. They said that they enforce quiet hours after ten which is bull! People were outside screaming and fighting until after 2AM until the cops were called. The manager was rude and never around. I just couldn't believe how rude the people working there were. They were all dirty and hungover and treated us like we were way off for complaining. I'm still waiting to get my money back on my credit card for them overcharging me. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not as good as their website promised to be....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/29/08
I have never posed any reviews on any hotel good or bad. But this one was a very discusting place and not worth what they charge AT ALL!!!!.We tought it was a great cool place for a christmas family gathering but it turns out it was the worst ever (and we are constantly traveling therefore know about different hotels and their service). Our room was not ready so we had to wait in the cold for a while at night!! On the middle of a snow storm!! CLEANING.. was not good, the floor still had used matches in the batroom and leftover hair, the tub was not scrubed form the previous user. Don't get me started on the toilet!! Discusting. Talking about having to clean after you on the hotel Sucks The towels and blankets looked as if they were reused or they just used a very cheap soap. One of the days after they supposibly cleaned; the towels were still on the floor, we had no new ones and the used matches from the day we arrived there, were still there!!!. It needs maintenace like some screws and plaster patching. C'mon $250 a night for me and you cant fix this small things. At the lobby the manager cussed out a lady that complained about asking for towels at 5am and 8am and both times was promised to get them in 20 min. and she never got them. And they still had the nerve to tell her she would not get them until later if she wanted to. PARKING.. its very poor so everyone was parked all over the place and you had the worry some migh hit you during the night. No iron, no microwave. 200% sure I will not go back. NOT RECOMENDED.

You get what you pay for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/08
Overall the Block is not what I expected from the pictures. It looks like a hip, cool, modern place to stay. But the fact is, it needs some work. I was there on an extended stay and the maid only came 2 times!! LAZY! Also the beds are really bad. It felt like a fat person had jumped up and down in the middle of my bed. Some of the rooms are cool. There is a great room with a bar, stripper pole and great shower. But there are others that are still back in the 70's with analogue tv! For the most part, if you are a border then you will be fine b/c it is a fun place to stay with other people. But if you actually want to get a good night rest...stay elsewhere.

I won't be back.
By Kim, 2/23/08
If you go to The Block, here’s what you should expect: - It is terribly obvious that the owners bought a cheap motel and tried to make it hip with some paint on the walls, board racks, and a huge TV…but the fact is, it’s still a cheap motel (at 2-3 times the cost). - The towels are sized for five-year-olds, and you will need to bug the front desk daily for new, clean ones. - You won’t get bath soap or shampoo/conditioner. - The heater may not always work and ,when it does, it will make loud noises. - They offer free DVDs to watch in your room, but they are unlikely to have any of the ones you’re looking for. I seriously went down a list of 10 and they said, “It’s checked out” to all of them. My thought is they never had them in the first place; it just looks good to have a long list. - If you come back from a ½ day of snowboarding, don’t expect to be able to nap. There is rap music blaring throughout the motel. - At night, you’ll need earplugs from the stupid kids doing whatever they’re doing until 2am. - You will need to call for rolls of toilet paper. - The bathroom looks like a gas station bathroom. - It will take about 15 minutes to get hot water in the shower. - The staff members are all eighteen-year-old stoners. - You will probably have a staff member just come into your room at a random time, confusing your room with a room that is supposed to be vacant. - You will likely be charged incorrectly, or given the wrong room…or you will be behind or in front of someone in line dealing with this. - There’s a computer in the lobby, but no internet connection. Useful. I will say the bed was fairly comfortable.

By kel, 11/26/07
I thought this would be a great place to stay but it wasnt! when we first got there there was awful rap music playing loudly in the parking lot when we asked about it they said they play it from 11am to 7pm everyday! then when we got to our room there were only three towels for 4 people, the lighting was awful, the phone didnt work, the people at the desk had no idea what i wash cloth was, the was no microwave, there was no coffee maker, the shower and bath tub were so small only a baby could fit in there!!!

Awsome place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/06
The staff was firendly, which made us feel comfortable. They went out of their way to show us their specialty rooms, let us stay longer in the pool area, always checked in to see if we needed anything. DJ Friday nights in the lobby! Internet access in the lobby. They even stopped by our baseball tourney to chat. We couldn't ask for anyhthing more. Expect us back in the winter. Thanks guys!
