Great "val u"!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/08/07
We needed a place to spend the night that was close to Ovando (RDR) so I came online and picked this one, based on other peoples' reviews. I'll agree that the bathroom was not perfect; 1. shower inserts were improperly installed and made a lot of noise when stepped into by us and the people in adjoining rooms. 2. toilet/tub area was VERY small. Other than the above, this was a great deal for the price! Reservation was correct, front desk was efficient, room was clean and there was everything to eat or purchase right there within walking distance. Don't know if I'll ever get back to Big Sky country but if this inn ever became a chain, I would frequent them. Kathy in Connecticut (2500 miles away)

The kids didn't laugh at me today...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/25/07
Typically when I have booked motel rooms, the kids or my wife always seem to point out the short-comings; whether it be questionable locations (like the one in Oregon, next to the fish cannery)or the cigarette burns in the bedspreads (like the motel in northern California),in their eyes I appear to be motel bookingly challenged. When they heard "Val-U-Inn", they thought, "Wow, we can hardly wait to see what Poppa found this time." What they found was a cheery front desk gal by the name of Jessica; a place with nice comfortable rooms; hot water that actually poured out of the shower heads; little refrigerators, microwaves for popcorn; a grand continental breakfast that defies the thoughts of "value"; and to top it off, it was right next to the shopping mall with 100 stores-- almost any woman's dream! OK, so it lacked a pool (which they were sure to point out) but they raved about the breakfast variety and their own waffle creations.

Love, Love, Love This Motel!
By K, 12/29/06
I have stayed at this motel for years and love the total experience. The management is friendly and is very family oriented! Great breakfast, comfortable beds, great location in the quiet part of town (not in downtown-historic Missoula. ++Just walk across the street to shop!

GREAT value for the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/12/06
I too was a bit worried about staying here with a name like Val U Inn. I asked about the name choice, it comes from the owner's daughter, Valerie. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. The rooms are clean and new, not worn. The front desk was very helpful. The breakfast had fresh fruit, bagels, yogurt, juice and even make your own waffles. The hotel is conveniently located in a safe neighborhood near a grocery store, movie theater, and other shopping. I would definitely stay here again and tell others about it. This is a GREAT value for your money.

Very nice room, but I had to squeeze into the bathroom...
By Mac, 08/01/05
My family and I stayed at nine different hotels in sixteen days and surprisingly all of them were great. For three adults, the AAA Rate was $79.18, including taxes. The room was medium sized and quite clean, and included two very nice beds, a clock radio, a regular chair, a comfy chair, a desk, a large television in a cabinet with remote, a large fridge, a microwave, and an iron and ironing board. The bathroom was as small as could be, with only the toilet and small shower/bathtub inside, which did not have a handrail. I also found that there was no way to turn on the vent in the bathroom, which was very strange. The sink was located outside the bathroom door where the hairdryer, two containers of shampoo, and two containers of hand/body lotion were located. The Val-U-Inn is located quite far from the Interstate, so directions are necessary to find it. However, it is right beside the large shopping mall and is located next door to a Wendy's and across the street from a Denny's. I would stay here again, as the room was very nice, clean, and quiet, however the tiny bathroom would not be welcomed by some people.

A Pleasant Surprise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/04
It was late when we arrived in Missoula and with a name as cheesy as the 'Val-U Inn' we really weren't too sure about this place. But what a pleasant surprise! Our room was immaculate with all the little extras we needed. The bed was comfortable, the breakfast buffet had a good (and fresh!) variety, and the service was friendly. An exceptional value.
