was just what we were looking for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/25/08
The desk was so friendly and helpful, the room was outstanding!! We were able to watch the ocean by the fireplace. The bed was comfy and everthing was so clean. Only thing is there wasn't a restraunt in the hotel. We are planing a another trip to Oregon next year and we will be staying here once again. We are from Anchorage and the view almost compared to home!!!!

A little gem
By dashelamet, 2/24/07
The staff were friendly and helpful. The view (even though our room wasn't technically a "view room") was beautiful. We were amazed at the terrific value for this lovely place. It's directly on the ocean, but there is not a sandy beach right in front, it's dramatic rocks (but you can walk on those. I believe a short walk gets to right to the water's edge. Highly recommended!

Very Good Accomodation
By G, 4/24/06
Stayed for one night after a long drive from Seattle. Located far enough off the highway that road noise is completely a non-issue. Room was very roomy and comfy. Did not get an ocean view room, but that was not a drawback, as the ocean is literally right outside the door. There are benches within 100 yards of the building that you can sit on as you listen to waves and watch the sunset. There are ocean front walking trails adjacent to the property. The room had a little fridge. Nice touches included the premium quality soap and shampoo, and the classic and well-maintained feel of everything in the room. A decent dinner can be had just down the road in Yachats. Coffee and tea available in the morning in the office. Discount with AAA.

Pretty Average
By Zexia, 8/9/05
The ocean was within a few hundred feet, even though I didn't get an ocean view. The staff was courteous, though I was not told on the phone about checkin time and the front office does close at night. The room was clean. The shower water temp did not adjust.

Just what the attitude ordered
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/23/05
Everything about this place was perfect, location, accomodations, atmosphere and peacefulness. Ocean front romantic and soothing atmosphere. Hiking trails all along the coast just by stepping out your back door. Nice grassy area right out your own back door for sunbathing, playing and relaxing all the while just watching the waves coming in and crashing onto the rocks.Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Nice pool area for some fresh water swimming. Centrally located to many of Oregons attractions so no long day driving trips to do site seeing. Many local state parks and lakes within a few miles for swimming, hiking and fishing.Gorgeous hillside surroundings to the east and the ocean right up close and personal to the west.Turn out the lights and light the candles and drift away to the sounds of the ocean against the rocks at night. Great place for families or romantic singles or couples.

Don't miss the Fireside!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/05
We have been stopping at Fireside for over 20 years...and try to visit at least once a year from Central California. The views are wonderful with the surf right out your window. There is a great walking path to explore the seashore. The rooms are clean and well decorated with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The price is reasonable compared to any other motel with the views. Pets are welcome with special "Pet Packs" supplied. There are nice casual diners as well as more upscale eateries available in Yachats as well as nearby town. We recommended it highly to our grandchildren for their upcoming honeymoon!

Time after Time
By Deborah, 10/11/04
i rarely give 5* reviews, but have really enjoyed the fireside and can't think of any reasons to give it less. i have stayed at many hotels along the oregon coast over the years. i stay at the fireside when i'm on the central coast, because it's quiet, friendly, clean, spacious, has great location right in front of crashing ocean waves, dogs are allowed, & is a high value (compared to what you get at other hotels along the coast). there's lots to do nearby including horse back riding, some actually good coast restaurants, and playing in sand dunes.
