Carlton Hotel (The), Salt Lake City

I arrived early and had access to my room or should I say suite. It had two bedrooms, a dining area and the kitchen. What a nice room!!! The hotel is located right across from Temple Square near the Beehive House. The gentleman who transported me from the airport told me facts about the city and the LDS church. Loved the narrative tour. I plan to stay here everytime that I go to SLC. Wonderful visit!!!!

I chose this small family owned hotel based on what I read on this and other Internet sites. It was everything I expected and more! Service was fabulous and everyone was very friendly and helpful. My room and bed were extremely comfy and the refrigerator and microwave were wonderful to have. The wireless high speed Internet worked perfectly. My needs were anticipated and provided for. Extremely clean, and a full off the menu, cooked to order breakfast was included in the daily price!!!! The hot tub and other amenities were a real plus too. A discounted price is given to guests coming to work on their genealogy. It's within walking distance of Temple Square and the Family History Center, but the daily hotel shuttle was a real blessing, as was the airport pick up and drop off. I met some folks there that had been coming yearly for 15 years! I hope to return, but in the meantime I will recommend this hotel to others. /Carol

Location was wonderful, just a few blocks' walk to Temple complex. Lady who checked me in was very nice and had someone who worked at the hotel move his vehicle so I could get in the underground parking and close to the elevator. (I am a senior citizen so that was very helpful.) However, wall heating unit in my room (I stayed 2 nights) was out and I had to call front desk at 5 a.m. to get a space heater because the extra blanket wasn't cutting it. Wall heater still was not fixed when I checked out. Free breakfast was good and portions were generous.

We stay at the Carlton twice a year for a convntion in Salt Lake and wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff has been the same for years and everyone knows you when you walk in and treats you like family. This is definitely not the Ritz Carlton, but what it lacks in pure luxury it makes up for in sheer charm. If you're tired of chain hotels and looking for a hotel offering the value and service associated with small independently owned hotels of decades past, this is the place for you. Free parking, free airport pick-up and drop off, a sumptuous breakfast is included and it's within easy walking distance of everything important in Salt Lake. We love the Carlton and so will you!
