Great place for fishermen to stay
By Ronald, 10/24/11
Keep in mind this is a road side lodge where there is only 3 places to stay with in 50 miles. This is in the top 3 no doubt. No Hiltons or Marriotts around. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms are clean. The lodge is nice. You can drink the tap water and it is as good as bottled water. The food at the resturaunt is great. Try the smoked trout cold plate or if you like red meat the new york strip is great. For the fisherman there is space to park your boat, it is only 8 miles to the boat ramp and they will have coffee ready for you at 6:30 AM.

A Place To Ponder
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/10
I too, would take my mother to Marble Canyon for a week each summer before her untimely passing. I can say nothing bad about this place. It is a place of pilgrimage for me.

Two Word Summary: Roach Motel
We have passed this place for years on our way to the North Rim and Vermillion Cliffs where we hike. It looks good from the outside, and my wife called on our way up to reserve a room. Our room faced the highway. Upon entering, we could see daylight through the bug-eaten curtains, and when we pulled the curtains back, the window was covered by a layer of brown, previuosly liquid scunge. Not quaint, just sleazy. We were so depressed, we went to Lee's Ferry to barbecue, and had no tent but almost camped in our Subaru until we finally, and mistakenly, convinced ourselves that the room was not that bad. When we got back there and into bed, the bedspred felt grimy, and I got up to check under the mattress for the brown trails of Bed Bugs. None there, but it was so dirty that we didn't really sleep and then got out of there early. I have stayed in hotels all over Western Europe and in the US, but have never seen anything to compare to this motel. In the future, we will camp at Lee's Ferry or pass it by as we have in the past. Sleeping in the car at Lee's Ferry would've been a better choice.

A Place of Pilgrimage
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/08
There is nothing I don't like about Marble Canyon. For years before my mother's passing, I'd take her there and stay at the lodge for a week, spending most of our time sitting by the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry. For those who can't do without their Blackberrys and suburban creature comforts, I'd suggest Phoenix is a day's drive away.

I thought it was a really cool place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/08
A buddy of mine & I were riding our cycles on a road trip & stopped here for one night. Staff was really friendly - food was much better then the big archers or the local king's, maybe better than my mom's cooking. Yes this place is remote but there is a modern gas station with munchies & beer about 500 ft away, stock up on any after hours items you may need, the staff is the town so yes they got to go to bed as well. They are good folks so give them break. The bridge is walking distance as well - way cool view. Leave your cell phones & day trader life at home. Can't wait to stop here again!

Stay Home!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/8/08
If you can't do without your cell phone or web for 1 or 2 days, Stay Home! Leave a vacancy for someone who appreciates clean air, 90 mile views, birds, animals, etc. JGT

primitive but spectacular
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/20/08
stayed there 6/18/08. wi-fi hotspot is widely advertised but basically unusuable (1M signal used by the entire town). NO cell service. NO Phone in the room. cafe served decent homestyle food but i am making allowances for closing time. cracked linoleum in the bath, but a walk-in closet. the surrounding area is incredible in its beauty, if they were able to provide some basic level of services, this could be a wonderful place to stay. as it is, i have been there once, and do not wish to repeat the experience.

Won't stay here again
By *B*, 5/7/08
There is no cell service, no phones in the rooms. No outside lighting. The coffee/tea maker does not work. NO HOT WATER for a shower. Water is barely warm then turns cold. Wi-fi is very slow. For all these the price is too much.

Beautiful setting
By simoncrawshaw, 1/23/08
Just like waking up in a film! Absolutely lovely staff - we arrived as the restaurant was closing for the evening and they kept it open just for us and made great home cooked food.

No, we wont be back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/07
Initial review reads, "Lodge offers modern comforts and facilities, restaurant and bar; located at the Colorado River; 5 miles from Lee's Ferry." I am not sure what modern comforts they are claiming to offer. We utilized 16 rooms, in both old and new building (moved to new building because airconditioning went out as soon as we all arrived and turned on the air) We had no phones, hairdryers, shampoo, internet. Our cel phones had no service We did have showers and lights and beautiful views. One in our group had to sleep in her car because she is sensitive to dust mites. It was convenient to Lee's Ferry - where we joined a G Cyn rafting trip
