Black Bear Lodge, Grand Lake

We went up to Grand Lake a month ago to do some hiking and relax. We found out about Black Bear Lodge through a friend. We were very happy with the place. The motel is older, but had a very nice charm to it. It is a couple miles from town, but we enjoyed not being able to escape the tourist race when we wanted to. We rode our bikes to town every morning for breakfast and went hiking in the park everyday. The owners were more than friendly, recommending their favorite hiking trails and places to eat in town (Make sure you go to the Terrace Inn for breakfast). Their Dog, Rocky, was very friendly and became our mascot by the end of our stay. The pool was great and the hot tub worked fine when we were there contrary to the previous post. We had everything we needed in our room including the kitchenette. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing spot for a great price.

I loved the rustic feel of the rooms while they still had all of the amenities I needed. The managers were very friendly and catered too all of my needs. The hot tub and sauna were great and so was the pool area. A great place to stay if you plan on doing some hiking or enjoying the lake. I highly recommend this place, we've stayed at many places in Grand Lake and this is our favorite.

The fridge did not keep things cold and the freezer did not work. The water pressure in the shower was slow and took a few minutes to get warm. The mattress feel like it was old and keep slipping off the end. There were a limited number of glass and cups in the room. It was OK for a one night stay if your were just the two of you, any more and it was very crowded. The playground area needs to replace or repaired and fence around the area would be nice, it is not that far from the road. The view of the mountains and the lake were blocked by the trees across the road.

Our rooms at the Lodge were clean and well maintained. The kitchenette served us well as we had light meals, saving costs. The owners were friendly and helpful. The hot tub was wonderful! We would definitely go back again.

The hotel looks to be recently renovated. Rooms were very clean and managers were very nice. Great location. We plan on staying their again.

Great location, right across the street from Shadow Mountain Lake. Very cute rooms! I was treated like a king, the owners were very friendly!

I loved the fact that this place is so quiet. The owners take pride in maintaining a serene environment. Other than the occasional family reunion this is a peaceful motel.

The place is charming and the hosts did everything possible to make our stay lovely. We highly recommend it!

The managers were very friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, ours had a kitchenette. I will be returning this summer for the fourth of July

There was nothing to dislike about the Black Bear Lodge. The Lodge had a very comfortable warm friendy feeling. It was nothing like I had expected we were greated at the door,We had the feeling we knew the owners, they had made us feel so welcome. We were given a tour of the Lodge. The room in which we stayed was beautiful,and very clean. It was very romantic get away for my husband and myself. We will defently return.
