Valhalla Resort, Estes Park

We have been coming to Valhalla every year for 25 years, sometimes two or three times a year! We usually go during the fall or early spring as we enjoy the quiet and Estes Park is not as busy as the summer months. Valhalla is a great place to stay-always sparkling clean and comfortable. It is very well equipped with everything you would need. (bring your own paper towels though) We have stayed in several different cabins over the years. 17A is great for our family-lots of room and the kitchen is fabulous! 17 is really nice for a weekend for two. The owners are very nice and helpful. Love it!!!!!!

We loved the down home people that own the resort. They were helpful about places to eat and visit. The cabin that we stated in was two bedroom. Very, Very, Very, clean! Had everything that we needed to cook. The elk outside every evening was something we had not expected-- but welcomed. We had a wonderful time and if we are back in that area, we would stay there.

We absolutely adore Valhalla and come back year after year. The staff is wonderful and the cabins are very clean and well maintained. The cabins are all different so it is easy to find the right fit for your needs and budget. Many units have private hot tubs which is a definite plus! Having an equipped kitchen with full size appliances makes it easy to eat well on a budget without having to rely on fast food or expensive restaurant meals. Many times we find several elk sitting in the backyard as we come and go. A typical day for us would be to hike RMNP, then come 'home' and barbeque steaks on the grill. As darkness falls we soak in the hot tub and relax and talk as huge snowflakes fall all around. Top that off by lounging by the huge fireplace making plans for the next day's adventures. A wonderful place to go if your plans are to relax and unwind.

Valhalla's biggest plus is its very friendly owners and staff. They make you feel as though you are part of the family. They are more than happy to help in any way they can, from a flat tire to a major emergency. They will also make dinner reservations at all local restaurants (which are all nearby) and they have all the local menus for you to look at. Cabins are exceptionally clean and very conviently located right next to Rocky Mountain National Park. In fact, you can walk into the park from Valhalla. They are also very close (walking distance) to the YMCA of the Rockies, which has a multitude of programs for families during the summer. We have been coming to Valhalla for 5 years and will have our first family reunion in 20+ years there in 2008. We highly recommend Valhalla.

Valhalla Resort does not give a great impression upon first glance. It's in the middle of a slightly rundown residential neighborhood and doesn't have much of a view. Nevertheless, the cabin in which we stayed was quite clean and comfortable. We had a two-bedroom unit with a fully-stocked kitchen, wood fireplace, large deck with BBQ grill, cable TV and pleasant decor. The resort has a small rec center and heated pool, which did not get used during our cold and rainy weekend! Valhalla is convenient to downtown Estes and the Beaver Meadows entrance to RM National Park. The price is pretty good, at least during "shoulder" season, before the high prices of summertime kick in. Although we had no contact with the staff during our visit, they answered my questions promptly via email before my arrival and seemed very nice at check-in. I think Valhalla would be a good value for families visiting Estes.
