Star Motel Resort, Wisconsin Dells

The Pros: They do allow pets with absolutely no restrictions. They are walking distance to most everything. Staff was reluctantly helpful. The Cons: The website is fairly misleading. Wi-fi is only available in one building. The game room consists of 4 old arcade games, that were not on while we were there. The pools were fairly clean, however contained so much chlorine that you could feel the burn on your skin. Also you are given a map of the "resort", and it states that one of the pools has a driving board and slide, but none do. The "dicounted breakfast" is $10.00 each, it was a below average tasting buffet. The advertised price of the room was $49.00 then I asked for a waterpark package, with ONE ticket.. I ended up being charged a total of $79.00. The price of the waterpark ticket is 35.99.. with a 35% discount you get with one of those discount cards you can get for free.. the ticket would cost $23.39 AT the Park.. so either I was extremely overcharged for the room, or the "discount" ticket is a sham. The room itself was very large, and the cable TV was nice. There is NO phone in the room, so if you need something, you either need to call the front desk wth your own cell phone, or walk down there. The linens were what you would expect at a cheap motel, but did seem to be clean. The floors were stained, but there was no odor of any kind. The A/C worked very well. The lady working the front desk seemed overwhelmed, and I dont hold any grudges against her. She was helpful with allowing us a late checkout (12:30 instead of 11:00). It wasnt a bad place, but just the same, I will be looking for a different hotel for our next visit.

I took my family of 6 to Dells and needed to find a motel that wasn't going to break the bank for a 3 night stay. I knew we were not going to stay at a 4 or 5 star resort. The front desk was great at coming and fix thing if we needed them. The maid service was great and left extra towels for my kids. Yes the room is dated and in need of some up dates the beds were fine and the bathroom was just fine. The water was hot and was. We had six of us in a room and wasn't charge extra for that and had two queens and single in our room. Was great deal that the office sold us 25.00 tickets to Noah Ark, that was savings as well as with all the other saving we got when checking in. The swimming pools was little cold for the kids but they were clean and clear. Tons of ice for you to have for your cooler this was a saving all so. We were at the back of the motel near the play ground and upstairs level. I hate stars but it was very quite and we didn't hear anyone walking around outside. I would stay here again if we needed to cut back on motel $$$. We only slept in motel and it was just fine.. Thank you for give up a great vacation

A wonderful place and people. In this world these days, it is hard to find such a wonderful experience as we encountered at Star Motel in Wisconsin Dells. They are true to their motto to work together to make our ideal vacation affordable. We made reservations for the Star Motel a few weeks back. One thing was very nice was that they did not require that we put a deposit on our credit card. It was up to us. Can you imagine. We wanted to pay cash so they took the number,but made no charge and we paid how we wanted when we got there. When we got there at 9am. We were surprised and happy to see how large the place really was. A really nice spread, and conveniently located by all the attractions. When we went to check in we were able to get into our room right away and not have to wait until 3 or 4 pm like most places. That was really nice so we didn't have to lug our luggage and cooler with us everywhere we went until 4pm. They asked if we wanted to see the rooms. They gave us 3 different rooms to see and choose what we wanted. That was VERY NICE.. We saw that there were 5 different buildings to choose from. There was an older section that was cheaper and a newer section, but the older section really wasn't that old. Every building had its unique features. One section (the older section) you can walk right out of your room to the pool. Another section was by the playground and tennis courts. Another by the picnic area and another with inside access to one of the indoor pools. They had 6 pools total. WOW. I was torn between two rooms. One was on the second floor with a beautiful view of Lake Delton in the distance on one side and the other side with a shared balcony of the nature trails. The other room was in the buidling known as the Star Motor Inn building (new section) where we had inside access to the indoor pool. It was a little chiily that weekend so we chose that one so the kids did not have to go outside wet from the pool . There was a sun deck near the room where we gathered in the morning to plan out our day. They had free coffee. They offered all kinds of discounts tickets and we could choose whatever we wanted to do. That was nice. A lot of other places out there have only tickets to one water park Mt Olympus,. In our opinion Noah's Ark was the best waterpark hands down so we got free tickets for that from the Star Motel. But we could choose any water park we wanted for any day of our stay. Two days we went to Noah's Ark and the third day we went to Mount Olympus. However, during our stay our car had a problem. The maintennace man Johnny there was soooo nice., He bought the part and put it in and only charged for the part. Unbelieveable. So our stay there was the best. Small home town values and our needs were put first which made all the difference. You will never get that kind of experience or treatment in those huge waterpark hotels which we couldn't afford anyway. The Star was like that with the water parks one next door and the other across the street so it was like a waterpark hotel without the huge $$$$. IF YOU ARE IN THE DELLS, THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!

Definitely one of the nicest second tier motels I've stayed at in the Dells. Obviously such a little motel can't compare to big ones like Wilderness, but for an eighth of the price, I'm not complaining! The best part of the experience was the service. It's family run by a nice old lady and her daughter. They do everything to make you feel comfortable and at home. They helped jump my car when it broke down and they made sure to give us extra towels since we were going to the waterpark. As for the rooms, they were spacious, and had two queen beds, fridge and microwave. The motel smelled a little old, but personally, I really like the rustic, been there for a while feel. The grounds were really nice. They had a huge play area for kids, and tennis courts, and a grilling area, and picnic tables. I spent most of the time at this area. They also had four pools in convenient locations! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a cheap, simple, nice motel to stay at for a few days!

This hotel stunk like mold. I told the owner I wanted some oust or a different room. They didn't have another room with 3 beds. The carpet was stained, sheets had some hole. Curtain had stains. My kids didn't want to stay in the room. I wrote a huge review on there website and it never was posted. THIS is not a RESORT. THE WORST EVER!!!

Not real sure about others complaints but I did notice that some of their complaints coincide with the huge flood that affected the entire areas plumbing systems (we did not have any problems) Now for the good stuff!!Even though there were no water slides in the hotel there were 2 indoor pools, 2 outdoor pools, a kiddie pool and 2 indoor hot tubs as well as 2 saunas!! The owner was a true charm and her daughter was such a big help! Rooms were spacious, but a bit outdated! But well kept. HUGE play ground for the kids along with a basket ball hoop with balls and a great big tennis court! Room rates varied but were as low as 31.00 a night!! The most anyone paid while we were there was 89.00 plus tax and that was for a Saturday! Great discount packages were available for quite a few attractions, including Noah's Ark (which was litterally just a block away), Mt. Olympus, Riverview Water park and much more!! We had a blast and will definately stay again soon! They do close shortly after Labor day weekend so if you are looking for an affordable place to stay for your last minute vacation before the end of summer, go there and check them out!!

If you just need a place to rest while visiting the Dells, the hotel is ok. Its not a five-star motel nor 4-star for that matter. However, we were comfortable. The towels and sheets were clean. I feel the hotel could use some updating on the furniture and comforters, but in summary, it wasnt all that bad.

I was in this hotel 2 days on 7/04/08 - 07/05/08 and i pat 400$ for 2 night,but my friend get same rooms for 225$ on same day. I NEVER AGAIN GO IN THIS HOTEL......

This place was great for our family. I don't know why the bad reviews were made. I think they made a mistake with another motel. There is a starlite motel and maybe they confused with this one. The rooms and grounds were very clean. The service was good. What my family and I liked were the nature areas in the back. After walking to the water parks we came back and BBQd with family and then went for a swim. There were 5 pools to choose from. It was great and I recommend it completely. The prices too were so reasonable. We are going back this year twice!!!

Twenty of us (we have a large family) stayed in 4 rooms for 2 nights. One room had a juccizi (not worth the extra $$$) and the others had 2 Q and 1 Full beds (we were told they would have 3 Q each). ALL of the rooms smelled very musty and we HAD to febreeze the pillows, sheets and blankets. One room had a clogged tub drain and another had a used sos pad on the floor by the air conditioner/ heater. The guest whirlpools were both out of order. I was told they don't have enough repair people up there to service all of the needs of all hotels/motels...maybe someone out there needs a job! Check it out! The play area had swings, with cement under them...very dangerous. Aren't they suppose to have wood chips or sand... something softer??? Many picnic tables were kind of dilapitated and some tipped over when people sat on them...we found out the hard way. The Motel said they offered coffee in the office in the AM. We went there at 8:00 and no coffee was available, yet...later in the AM they had some. Good thing we brought our own pot (just in case)! All in all, we made due. I'm VERY glad our family made it to the Dells this year...it's been way too long since the last time. We plan to go back next year, but we will plan to stay somewhere else!
