Fitger's Inn, Duluth

We stayed at Fitgers for my 50th birthday this year. It was wonderful. The staff was great and the new room decor is fantastic. There was a balcony over looking the lake that we shared a bottle of champaign on. We are going back this weekend and we can't wait to get there. The location is great and near to other local resturaunts and canal park. Cabs are prompt if you don't want to drive.

I still remember the first time my husband & I went to Fitgers many years ago.. I was in awe of the place. We love historical buildings & breweries. This place is gorgeous. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay perfect. Jim & especially Jessica have been the best hosts to us over the years. We were sad that Bennett's closed as that was a very special place for us. We tried Midi's- & unfortunately we did not care for it. The Brewhouse is another favorite place in the Fitgers complex. Best food, beer & service ever-top notch as is the Red Star. The coffee shop is very inviting. All of these places are only a few steps from our room. Every year we go to the Bockfest in March. It is held right outside of Fitgers. It is so fun to hang out by the bonfire, drink good beer, enjoy & laugh at all of the events of the day. Then we mosey back to our room to relax & be totally pampered. The rooms are beautiful & clean. The view is amazing. The Aveda soaps & shampoo's are a nice touch. I would highly recommend Fitger's to anyone. It has always, always been worth the money.

We loved that Fitger's was quiet (overall) and that the parking was free. It is just a short walk to Canal Park & nightlife. Our only complaint was the very last night when there was a reception on the 1st floor (we were on the 2nd) and every single song and announcement the DJ made were heard clearly through the vents--we didn't stay that night and we were not charged for the night either. The desk staff was very apologetic and understanding. I think this was the first time that a reception had been in that room (lower level), and I'm betting it won't be happening again, or maybe they'll figure out a way to make the bottom floor more sound proof. I would double check before booking that there won't be a reception held on the 1st floor, especially if your room is on the 2nd floor. We would stay at Fitger's Inn again.

Our stay was simply perfect. Hotel is undergoing a renovation and has new decor. Staff was excellent...very friendly, knowledgeable. They knew a lot about the area and could access information on every attraction I cared to see. Parking was easy...Huge covered ramp, small lot on the side and the best: valet parking! Tons of restaurant choices in the building and near by. Was disappointed Bennett's was gone, but pleasantly surprised by its replacement, Midi. Fantastic menu, new decor. Loved the martini bar, Red Star. Great drinks, great time! Overall, fantastic stay. Make this your next stop in Duluth!

Don't know how this hotel received 4 stars. Upon arrival, could not find the valet for valet parking or to take our bags inside. Our room was very small and smelled like mildew in a basement. The toilet was dripping on the floor and the exhaust fan did not work. The wallpaper was peeling back (probably from humid condition of the bathroom). We did not have enough towels/washcloths for the two of us staying there. We asked about restaurant suggestions outside the complex; the three staff members were stumped. Upon leaving, still no baggage assistance available. If there had not been a required 2 night stay, we would have left after the first night. We will go back to Duluth - love the city, love the shops in the Fitgers complex, but not Fitgers hotel.

if anyone is looking to stay at a beautiful hotel right on lake superior this is definatley the right hotel! i had a wonderful experience here, the staff was very helpful and not to metion friendly, and these qualities are hard to find in some hotels!

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 1st year anniversary at Fitger's Inn. It was his first time to Duluth. Upon our arrival, the bellboy was the cutest and friendliest. We absolutely loved the room. The whole building was wonderful. And to top it off, we had a very nice dinner at the restaurant. We would definitely go back and probably will. I would recommend this Inn to all. Michelle Bull

Duluth was a stop on our honeymoon in northern Minnesota, we wanted a romatic beautiful hotel. Webb site was not up to date, we requested a nice room with lake view, we got VERY small room, with room barely to squeeze by the bed. View was of parking lot/dumpster and partial view of the lake. Desk clerks were not familiar with local attractions, no fridge or microwave and you have to request an ice bucket. Wallpaper from the seventies that was stained and peeling. Stains on worn carpet and bathroom very small. Duluth was the only good spot, locals friendly and the lake walk is attractive. Save your money and stay at one of the new, cheaper hotels on the boardwalk!!

It's Duluth's best foot forward. Rain or shine ,this place will play a part in a great get away, wknd ,or vacation. Location with quiet removal, and yet just a scenic walk away from food, nitelife, and shopping. Please, this is a gimme
