Disappointing
By ,
This facility is in need of refurbishing. It is an old motel that is dusty and musty. I would not stay there again. The breakfast is sparse. They should not even pretend. The motel hallways smell.

A great family experience
By ,
The rooms are extra large and clean. Coffee pots are in the rooms, or we could go to the adjoining restaurant. A pass to the Museum was included with our room, and we could go back the next day for free as long as we stayed here. The manager was very friendly. He asked if we wanted a Deluxe room with a refrigerator but decided not to. Wireless internet had a strong signal in our room. Vending machines and a microwave were in the foyer. Very convenient to the Village and very quiet place.

Worth the visit...
By ,
My husband and I and another couple (all seniors) visited the Village and stayed in their motel. We were very satisfied with the accommodations. Nothing fancy, but clean, and everyone was friendly and helpful. If you like history and how life was lived "back then", you will like Pioneer Village. The displays are set up in a manner that makes it easy to follow the development of the various items through the years. There is much to see. We spent almost 2 days there. Harold Warp was a true pioneer and we appreciate the dedication he had to collect all the memorabilia; from the buildings and furnishings, collections, autos, tractors, you name it. You'll find it all at Pioneer Village. The food at the Pioneer Village Restaurant was delicious and the employees there and at the Museum were all very friendly and helpful. Enjoy you visit!

Remember when
By ,
Very much a walk threw the past. Things you most likely not see any where else/or again. worth the time and money. A lot to take in. Quite a learning experience and walk back in time, most things nicely displayed. Did not stay at there Hotel, it did not look inviting, very old and run down. I would recommend this this to others. Not for children under 12. They would get very burned out quickly. Just too much to see.

Definitely must see!!
By ,
Time travel occurs when you experience Pioneer Village. Fabulous opportunity for young and old to learn and appreciate our heritage! The hotel was immaculate, great pillows, courteous people, super value because the admission price of the village, good for two days,is included in the price of the hotel $49.00. Not a better value around! You must see this.

Should Definately Go See!!
By ,
We were hesitating about staying here because of the reviews. BUT!!! It is a very quaint little motel. The room we stayed in was freshly painted, no shag carpet. The room was very clean. It was well worth the money $54 per night. The breakfast we had was inexpensive compared to to others and quite tasty. Pioneer Village is awsome! I haven't been back since I was little and I found the car my dad redid for Mr. Warp years ago, so that was the highlight of our weekend. The Village is very well kept and you tell that much time, dedication and love has gone into the displays. Everyone should take the time to go visit!!!

WE'LL BE BACK AGAIN & AGAIN!
By ,
The Pioneer Village museum is wonderful! You would think it was some hokey re-enactment like the Archway monument in Kearney--it's not, this is all real! There are so many interesting things here--like a 1955 microwave! All of the buggies you've always read about in Sherlock Holmes stories, like a hansom cab, and an omnibus. There's a tiny stockade from early Nebraska that 6 families lived in at once. You will want to buy stuff at the general store! I'm not a farm wife, but even I find their tractors and farm equipment fascinating--so many different kinds! I love the building with furniture & original prices. This is a place you can go time & time again, as we do, and find something new every time. For kids, there are lots of hands-on things, like buttons to turn on a threshing machine and a horsepower. Go at least once, and I dare you to not find something that interests you! Motel is pretty clean, too, and if you're into nostalgia, ask for a room in the "old" part, with its turquoise bath fixtures, shag rug & drapes that your grandma had, and TV with built-in radio. (No remote control, guess you have to borrow one from the museum.) And ahhh, the fragrance of Cashmere Bouquet soap! Restaurant is okay, it's better than it used to be.

Loved the small town atmosphere and the prices for meals at the resaurant unbeatable !Like traveling back in time while in the museum !We were especially happy that we could have a room that allowed our two Shi-tzu dogs, they are our kids.Service was excellent,we did our part by reusing towels to save water when possible.

Price and Location Make it A Good Choice
By ,
It is a good location if you are visiting Pioneer Village - which is worth the trip. The rooms are big enough to move around in, and clean. Minden and Pioneer Village are great places to visit.

Drive a little farther - stay someplace decent!!
By ,
Maybe it is beacuse my family recently spent a week in a GREAT hotel, but we really were disappointed with the Pioneer Village Motel. The room rate started at $50 but then went up for each extra child staying with us (we are accustomed to flat rates!!). The rooms were decorated circa 1975 - with orange shag carpet and green striped wallpaper - AND they smelled bad. You could not even get a cup of coffee in your room or even in the lobby in the morning (a ploy to get you in the restaurant, no doubt). The waitress in the restaurant was not very nice either - giving a big sigh and a frown when asked to break the bill into separate tickets (nephew joined us and wanted to pay for his own). The icing on the cake was when the ice machines had a note on them asking that guests in the hotel not use the ice for their coolers - "bagged ice is available for purchase in the office". We really felt like the motel was taking advantage and charging for every "extra" they could just because they knew they were the only place to stay for miles around. IF we ever go back to Minden we will drive the extra miles and go someplace else.
