WE'LL BE BACK AGAIN & AGAIN!
The Pioneer Village museum is wonderful! You would think it was some hokey re-enactment like the Archway monument in Kearney--it's not, this is all real! There are so many interesting things here--like a 1955 microwave! All of the buggies you've always read about in Sherlock Holmes stories, like a hansom cab, and an omnibus. There's a tiny stockade from early Nebraska that 6 families lived in at once. You will want to buy stuff at the general store! I'm not a farm wife, but even I find their tractors and farm equipment fascinating--so many different kinds! I love the building with furniture & original prices. This is a place you can go time & time again, as we do, and find something new every time. For kids, there are lots of hands-on things, like buttons to turn on a threshing machine and a horsepower. Go at least once, and I dare you to not find something that interests you! Motel is pretty clean, too, and if you're into nostalgia, ask for a room in the "old" part, with its turquoise bath fixtures, shag rug & drapes that your grandma had, and TV with built-in radio. (No remote control, guess you have to borrow one from the museum.) And ahhh, the fragrance of Cashmere Bouquet soap! Restaurant is okay, it's better than it used to be.
