Simmer Motel, Wamego

As the owner of The Simmer Motel it is disheartning to here a bad review especially that someone thinks we are a dump. My I have never thougt of us in that way. I know that we are always remodeling and replacing old furniture,carpet,and mattresses. We can only do our best. I do want to respond to the gentlemen that called us a dump. I am truely sorry for the bad experience that you had with us. We do have smoking rooms and they do smell like smoke we have 4 ozone machines that we use all the time but they only do so much. The manager at the time obviously did not run it the way I would have wanted. As a small motel you can not aford to have people feel the way you do about us and stay in bussiness very long. We also have our own shampooer and use it all the time because we use to have to wait for at least nine rooms to shampoo before we could get someone to come and do our carpet to make it cost effective. Also if you go to website site you will see we have smoking and non-smoking room and if non-smoking was an important requirement for you it would be best to always ask for it. I am not quite sure why anyone would leave a comment that we do not have non-smoking rooms . I dont know who she talked to that gave that impression. Now to the women who said that we did not appolize to her for entering her room while she was in there. I fully doubt that no one appolized to her, the embarressment on both sides would be terrible and I am not trying to trivialize the stituation by any means but i just can't belive there was no appolgy forthcoming by the employee but mistakes are made everyday it does not mean we are a terrible motel

This was the first motel in my Wamego Motel search-what luck. The price was right, the people (owners) were very nice, the room was very clean and cute. We were there because my husband was working at the near by power plant so chances aren't we won't pass trough Wamego again but I would certainly recommend it for one night or an extended stay.

I've stayed at a lot of motels in my time but the Simmer was definately the best. The owners are extremely nice and the staff is very well put together. The rooms I booked were outstanding. At the time they only had a smoking and a non smoking room (and I needed non smoking) I had to take both and suprisingly enough the smoking room did not smell like smoke at all! I was amazed at how well put together the rooms were with their cute decorations and their unique sense of style. Their standard of cleanliness is above and beyond the cleanliness of other places we have stayed. The owners definately went to the extreme to make this place a comfy and quiet place for travelers. Another bonus is there is no top floor rooms and the rooms are not directly on the highway so you can't hear any loud cars or trucks at night while you are resting. The room rates were very reasonable and I am definately going to stay here again if I come to the area.

We stayed here in August for a wedding. It looks like the Bates Motel from the outside, but was very charming. We had a very nice room, with some antiques in the room. Our in laws room, wasn't as nice and their mattress was flat, but they were doing more renovations at the time. The only problem is no resturant or breakfast, but the town is so small, it had one nearby. You do have to arrive before 10pm, because the office closes. We just made it just on time. We plan on staying here again for another wedding in june. I would recommend it to others. It is like staying at motel from the 50's or 60's.

The rooms sound wonderful and the price is great, but the customer service on the phone wasn't good at all, and they had no non-smoking rooms. She was being wishy washy about it until I pulled it out of her. So I haven't stayed here, but I was disappointed, it sounded like a nice hotel. But being sensitive to smoke and pregnant, I don't think so!

Got there late and had to pound on the door to get in, no one answered when I tried the bell. Check in lady acted annoyed that I was trying to get a room. Room was dirty and smelled like smoke. Don't know when they last cleaned the carpet. Walls must be paper thin as I listened to the couple in the next room argue for over an hour. Only redeeming thing was the low price. I checked out and stayed across the street the next two nights.

The Simmer is a fun place to stay with kids. It has a nice outdoor pool with a fairly deep end to it all enclosed with privacy fence and hedge, and complete with a BBQ grill available. Also it has a play area. The rooms are big, clean, and quiet. Just a lovely place to stay! Also has a great safari themed honeymoon suite with a two person jacuzzi! Try to find a suite like that anywhere else for the price!

The rooms are so clean and the service is outstanding! We have stayed here twice and both rooms were decorated so cute. The Management was also very professional and helpful! Thank you for making our stay so pleasant!

This is a very small motel, family owned. Clean, well-cared for. Ask for the "Bridal Suite"! The Bridal Suite has a unique character and has a 2-person jacuzzi in the room. A very pleasant room with surprising decor.

This appeared to be a nice, moderately-priced alternative to a Manhattan hotel/motel. Just 20-25 minutes away, it worked for us. We booked two rooms, one their special Jacuzzi Suite with a wild animal motif. It was a quiet, comfortable location. Only problem was in the morning while we were dressing to leave and they decided "show off" the suite. Neither deadbolt nor doorknob lock slowed them, coming right in at will -- no apology or anything when we inquired about the practice. Nice enough place but we likely will not return.
