Wildwood Inn Theme Suites, Florence

I decided to suprise my husband with a weekend get away and choose to spend it at the Wildwood Inn- the Champagne Room. The pictures looked great and I thought this would be perfect, as we have a 6 year old 13 month old and I had just given birth to our daughter 2 months ago (needless to say we needed some mommy daddy time!) When we arrived we were informed that the room we booked was shut down?! So they said the previous guest had turned the water on in the "Champagne Jacuzzi" and let it run so it overflowed and flooded the room. We were told that we could pick another suite but no way at all would they refund ANY of our $600 + that we spent for the weekend, even though it was their fault. We tried the cave, after 20 minutes we were both physically getting ill from the room, smell, mold, mildew, ect. They said we could pick another suite and give us a $50 gift certificate but still could not refund any of our money. Eventually we stayed in a room for one night and left early in the morning since we could not sleep anyways. I would defiantly not recommend this place to anyone, especially if you have little kids. The pictures look nice on here and would be great if the actual place was anywhere near what the pictures show.

This space is not large enough to tell the story, Mold and Mildew, Musty, Jacuzzi tub did not work properly, fridge was very noisy needed to be unplugged ,toilet not secure to floor... just generally the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I travel a lot and have stayed in some dumpy hotels in Korea, Japan and Taiwan for a lot less money but this was terrible. The above scale needs to have negative numbers added to it. GO SOMPLACE ELSE!

The whole family decided to have one last time together before school started. Stayed her 20 years ago on my prom night and nothing has changed in decore since then. Same bedspreads as then. We had a good time but we didn't know that we would be bringing bedbugs home in our luggage. Since then we have been getting bitten in our home. If we had know this in advanced about the bedbugs we would of never stayed here. They need to update this place and do some major renovations. We had reservations again but just cancelled them and will be finding some place else to have out holidays together.

The 50's suite we stayed in on the 14th was great! The room was clean and very well themed! The hotel itself does need a few repairs but, overall very neat, you feel very secluded in a peaceful place! My husband and I were celebrating our 5th Anniversary and we highly recommend the Happy Days Suite!!! There are his and hers bathrooms that connect with a shower; an awesome hot tub; a projector tv like you're at the drive in; and you get to sleep in a '59 Caddy!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel is a dump. Carpets are old, shabby and coming apart. The MOTEL is a step below a per hour whore shack. The chair in the room came apart completely, the room was stanky, and the bed spread looked like it was from a 70's porn. We came with a few kids only because the pool looked nice. Well you go to the pool you are going to use towels. We asked for extras... ha, yeah right. We had to bring the wet ones down before we could get new ones. .. ohh and yeah they counted them before giving us dry ones. The worst part was on the 2nd night the toilet was backed up. I called to ask for the maintenance guy to come and fix it. Got the old "I am the only guy here but I can give you a plunger" response. SO.. I am on vacation at this whore shack and plunging toilets. I didnt come here for a job I came to relax. Guess not.

We thought we checked everything really good for bedbugs but appartly not because our 3 year old daughter woke up the morning of check out with 6 bed bud bites on her butt. Nasty hotel... DON"T STAY THERE. Needs alot of updatind to do and needs to get reed of the bed bugs. Not very friendly front desk people either.

the rooms were dicusting,we paid 316.00 for two nites.the the pic.on here are decieving, to say it nicely.i wouldnt recomend this place to anyone.

My husband and I stayed there over the weekend. We got married Saturday and couldn't go away for a honeymoon so we decided to stay at Wildwood Inn for our honeymoon. We thought it looked nice and cool. We stayed in one of the Safari Huts. The room looked nice and we were all excited. In the morning we woke to a very unwelcome treat. Laying in bed I saw a bed bug crawling across the sheets. My husband put it in a cup to show it to the front desk. When we checked out, he took it in and showed him. My husband never asked for a refund or anything. We just wanted them to know so they could take care of it. The front desk agent said he would contact the manager and he would give my husband a call about the sitiuation. It's been over 48 hours and we still haven't heard anything. My husband is ate up. It's all over his arms, and legs, and it has even caused him to break out in a rash. We still haven't brought our clothes in our house because we are scared to bring them into the house. We even left the gift basket my dad bought and had in our room waiting on us becuase we were afaird we would bring home bed bugs with it. What we thought would be a great honeymoon turned out to be a nightmare.

We WERE going to stay there, but were able to cancel the dbl/dbl room within the front desks stated cancellation policy of within 30 minutes of checkin. That room had a space above the door that would have allowed insects to fly in; in the door leading outside from the hallway outside the room, there was an entire pane of broken glass; the floors were dirty looking - had bits of whatever it was - on them; there was no indication of any exit doors being kept locked - everything was open - and because of that we were concerned about safety. Their online photos show little thatched roof huts further out on their property: the grass/weeds? leading out to them from the main building were at least knee high. Outside there was debris on the grounds - general unkempt appearance. The small pool one encounters leading into the pool area had a small amount of dirty water in it with dead leaves; the playground equipment in the photo looks clean, nicely painted, sturdy; the actual looked like it wouldn't hold a child safely, lacked the clean, painted appearance. We also booked, and were unable to receive our almost $900 reservation money for the pirate ship theme room because we were without the 30 minute limit! There had been "gossip", the manager told us, about their having bedbugs. This made us concerned about the bunkbeds in the dark alcove of the pirate room. We would have had to totally remove all the bedding and have a flashlight to check the area. The website says they do have regular health checks: the latest online one was from 11-2010, by Orkin. Besides the possibility of being out so much money, the dirtiness of the place should be seriously considered by the health authorities. Actually, the approach to the entrance just off the highwas in an indicator of what is inside......

This was our first time at the Wildwood Inn and unfortunately our last. We stayed 2 nights in the Tennesee Cave Room. The room looked really cool and the kids liked it. Overall the place is a bit run down and seems to need refreshing. TV remote was very basic and at first our phone didn't work (I had to play with the cord and outlet to get it to work, also phone very old looking). Ice machine down the hall did not work either. The worst thing about the place was the other people staying there. Too much "riff-raff". The second night I hardly got any sleep as someone was up partying across the hall all night long. Someone else called the front desk and they had to come twice to the party people's door (which really woke me up). There were other observations and things too .. too much to mention. The other guests were really just undesirable. I was wondering why they had so many of the nice looking suites labeled as smoking. I think they should make the whole place non-smoking and so maybe some of these customers will go elsewhere. So next time I think we'll be taking our money somewhere else. Too bad because I think my kids would like the pirate room or treehouse room. Surprised it's rated as a 3 star. It does not deserve that rating.
