BED BUGS
By Justine, 11/20/09
We arrived at the hotel and the first thing I noticed was the overwhelming smell of smoke in the hall way. When we got into the room it had an overall dingy feel. The bed was hard as a rock and the linen did not smell fresh at all. After pulling back the first set of covers we saw that the second blanket had cigarette burns on it. Later on in the evening we decided to relax in the hot tub. It took over twenty minutes for the tub to fill up and the “hot water” was barely even warm. When we sat in the tub it felt rough and you could feel the deep ridges where it had been worn down. Needless to say it was in need of an update. We got out of the hot tub and dried ourselves off with small rough towels. It took 3 towels to come even close to being dry since they were so thin and did not absorb any of the water. We would have run out the door, but it was our honeymoon and the room was a gift and quite frankly we were broke and had nowhere else to stay for the night. We were exhausted from the long day so we did not have much trouble falling asleep. The next morning we woke for the continental breakfast. The breakfast consisted of coffee, cheap doughnuts and cereal, that’s all. We had better luck at the nearby gas station with food. After breakfast we decided to watch the football game. The TV had terrible color and kept flickering on and off. As if all this wasn’t bad enough… two hours after leaving my husband began to itch and we noticed several red bumps on his neck and shoulders. We went to the Dr. immediately to have them checked out and he informed us that he had undoubtedly been bitten by BED BUGS. We had not stayed any other place that weekend and when we went to our new apartment (where my husband had been staying the week before by himself) we did not find anything, nor have we received any more bites. Clearly the only place he could have gotten them was the dingy, run down, hotel we had spent our honeymoon in. After we spoke with the manager he called in Orkin, told us they were unable to find anything and because of that they could only offer us 50% of our money back or a complimentary stay. There is no way we would take the complimentary stay.. ….why would we want to stay in that awful place again? And as for the 50%... what about the Dr. fees and the fact that it put a huge damper on our first week of marriage! I would never recommend for anyone to stay there!

better than a normal hotel, staff was rude.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/15/09
The theme room we stayed in was a theme room, and was nice. They said the normal price was 300.00. would not pay that for it. My reservations got messed up, and the staff refused to fix it. The saff acted like it was my fault that they messed up. What ever happened to the customer is always right? All in all it was a good stay, the hotle owners need to hire some competent people to work at the hotel, inmy opinion they are all a bunch of idiots.

Don't Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/12/09
The place was dirty, gross, noisy, spider infested. They sell pool passes to anyone off the street for 6 bucks a month so the pool is not private to those staying at the hotel. We booked a whole week but couldn't stand it past night 3 due to the constant noise of kids running screaming down the hallways, these kids mind you were children of staff members. Horrible place and any good review must be written by the staff of this roach motel.

good anniversary
By Katherine, 01/07/09
Yes the experience was very fun. I really liked the pool area, the hot tub was fun and no kids allowed which was pretty nice. I would recommend it to others and have. It was worth the money. I had a great anniversary, mainly of course because I was with my honey but also because it was an experience outside of the norm. Will bring my children here too.

Fun Hotel but needs some updating....
By DavisRocker, 01/06/09
I booked my hotel online like so many others do and end up getting the assiest room, so it's not just this hotel it's any one I stay at. My company books hotels through travel sites and I get handicapped rooms, smoking rooms, about any crap room I'll get. I try to leave reviews for every hotel I stay at. First of all, I will blame some of this on the fact it was booked online and we didn't call the hotel. The hotel makes crap money from these rooms so you get crap rooms. You pay $80 to the online reservation when you could have gotten a much better room by booking it through the hotel directly (which is what I do when I pay for my own rooms!). I was a little unhappy that I was in a building away from the pool, but I realized that this was because it was pre-paid. So I dealt with it. OK, so the negatives were 1. the shampoo (I am a man that uses Suave usually and the stuff they provided was worse. What does this tell you? 2. Towels were a bit scruffy. 3. Halls looked not-so-nice. 4. Room seemed dated. PLUSES: 1) POOL!!! Waterfall hot tub! 2) free breakfast, might not be the greatest but coffee and donuts never let me down. 3) it was quiet 4) bed was clean, linens clean, needed new carpet but floor was clean, 5) TV fairly large good reception. 6) great location - across the street is a really good pub! 7) staff friendly and jovial. Had a good laugh with the front desk. Most of the people that work in hotels are monotone and dying to leave their shift, this person had a good sense of humor and made me laugh, which was nice after driving 17 hours. even put on a pot of coffee for me! I enjoyed the staff, evening and morning. I enjoyed the breakfast. I would probably come here on my own (for a theme room of course ONLY). I got excited like a little child telling my wife on the phone when I got there that they have a room thats a cave and telling her she's going to come here and stay regardless what she says, I felt my manly pride swell up thinking of protecting her in dark cave...and she laughs. Then I send her to the website while we're on the phone, in which she laughs and asks me how cheesy this place really was and why did my business book me there instead of Marriot? Eh, who knows, this was a fun experience that I wouldn't mind trying again.

An amazing place to celebrate special occasions!
By Pamela, 12/24/08
We tried several theme rooms. Loved the bed--super comfortable. The room was clearly well furnished. I am in the design business so I was quite impressed with the detail and artistic aspects. The room was equipped with a modern mini-fridge. It also had a microwave and a gigantic shower/bathroom. The rooms are very nice, very classy and was very impressed with the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. They made us feel very welcome and was always more than willing to help us with anything we needed or had questions about. The cleanliness of the theme rooms were very impressive. However, when you see other areas of the hotel you realize they need updating and also needs deep cleaning. However, putting that aside, the money we paid was well worth the memories and enjoyment we got from staying at the Wildwood Inn. I adore the housekeeping staff, they were helpful in helping us find the perfect rooms for our anniversary. They spent an hour with us while we poked around trying to figure out which rooms we were going to choose. The desk staff also printed out directions and gave us information on nice places for dinner in the area. We had a great time and owe appreciation to the staff and owners of the hotel. We will be recommending this hotel to all of our friends and family. I have read the other reviews that are negative and honestly can't believe some of them. I will be a repeat customer because of the service I received at the Wildwood Inn. Regardless of some of the small issues the hotel may have, the customer service and the rooms we rented made it a definite choice for all future stays for holidays and special occasions. The location of the hotel is quite central, very close to downtown Cincinnati and Newport, KY. Many area attractions and away from awful traffic. They are easy to locate. They are near many places to shop and is located in a safe area. The owners have clearly put their souls into this hotel so that we could imagine life as we didn’t know it in Florence Kentucky. Lodging includes a continental cold breakfast, which could be amped but was satisfactory for us.

Our New Winter Retreat
By JacobT, 12/17/08
I came here because I am sick and tired of the cold. We were planning an affordable winter vacation and called to ask for information about the hotel. We were a little dismayed at the reviews of the hotel and so we visited the property and took a tour of the rooms. It could be updated a bit but it was really nice. The pool area was very tropical and entertaining. We stayed in a poolside room for two nights then we stayed in the New York Central Park room for one night. The room was very cozy and nice. It was much more affordable than driving to Florida (our usual destination). I grant you it's not as fun as Florida, but it matched our budget and it was very relaxing and much more affordable. We are having our Christmas get together there and my family is very excited.

It is a true getaway....
By Frank, 12/04/08
My wife surprised me with a weekend in two theme suites. At first I was apprehensive but we did really enjoy our time! The rooms were very fun and cozy, she picked the Arctic Cave and the Pirate Ship. It was a great memory to celebrate our anniversary. I am so glad she picked this hotel because any other one would not have been as unique and fun. The pool area is very fun, and next time we come here I would like to bring our children! We loved the waterfall! You will love it here, the people working were very good at their job and friendly and helpful. I hope to come back very soon.
