exceptionally clean and courteous staff

I understand it is newly remodeled and new management, so this might explain for previous post. Stayed here for a weekend and the room was exceptionally immaculate and clean. I have stayed at 4 and 5 star, big named hotels that were as clean as this. The staff was very courteous and the breakfast buffet was delicious.

Pool needs to have adult only times

We were disappointed that there aren't adult only times on the pool. Part of our reason choosing to stay here was the 24 hour pool. This particular weekend we stayed there was a middle school age hockey team staying with their parents and when we walked down the hot tub was packed full of the boys team. The last time we checked it was 12:30a.m. and when we asked about possible curfew time for kids we were told as long as there was an adult present. Needless to say we didn't use the pool/hot tub.....even if we could've gotten in the hot tub we wouldn't have been comfortable in there with so many kids. There really should be adult only times for adults to be able to relax and enjoy some quiet time.

Great Value

I like that it is centrally located, clean, comfy and cheap. We come for the TC activities not the hotel itself. So, it is a perfect landing spot for us. We have stayed here with our kids, by ourselves, and with a group of other couples. Each time we are happy with the hotel. We have good times at the pool, the breakfast is fine and the rooms are nice. What more could you want in a hotel.

I have stayed here at least 4 times in teh past three years. Never again. The last time I stayed here was in Oct. Upon checking in, they gave me a key card to a room already occupied. I walked in on another guest. The front desk just blamed it on the computer and didnt even apologize. I was so embarrassed. I stayed for two nights, the next day I was gone all day and returned around 3:30 and my room was still not made up. Then to top it all off, i just received a charge to my charge card for 50.00 and they claim it is because they found ashes and smells of smokign in my room, i do not even smoke. The manager ahs yet to return my call to work this issue out. Bottom line, I was a return customer because of their cheap rates, but its not worth it, do not stay here

likes- close to downtown traverse city close to the water and marnina not to far from northwestern college close to museum close to food eateries dislikes- Hallway carpet was dirty pool and hot tub areas did not look clean hot tub temperature was heated to hot and the water in hot tub look funky vending macines had stale food in them and the choclate bars were melted. glasses & cups were not wrap in plastic wrappings

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in july 07'.I had booked it for four but would have left the first night if I could have found another room.The smell of the pool hit me as soon as I entered the lobby.I stayed in the cottage suite which would have been fine if we were able to sleep.The pullout couch was nothing but protruding springs which forced my kids to sleep on the floor since the couch was so bad.The king bed in the bedroom was about as comfortable as a sheet of plywood.This forced me to spend my second night on the floor with the kids.The parking spaces are too small for just about anything larger than a mini cooper.If you return to the hotel later in the evening chances are there will be no place to park.When my 9 year old was asked what his favorite part of our trip was,he stated "the morning we left our first hotel".That says it all.I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.The Americinn has a very friendly staff,very comfortable rooms,more than ample parking,and is in the perfect location for anyone traveling with kids.Go there.

Beware of the cancellation policy and the attitude of the staff, including the managers! I was appalled at the things that were said to me as I tried to cancel my reservation 5 days in advance. They charged me 159.00 because it was not 7 days in advance. I would NOT recommend this hotel to anybody....I have never received such horrible customer service.
