Loved the view
By Lisa, 8/18/11
This place was awesome. A little old...but worth the view. We had the Alcove Suite at the end of the hall. Beautiful view...and romantic. Would go there again.....

Needs a New Owner
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/11
The Inn has been around since 1987 and the decor shows it. I do not think anything has been replaced. The rooms are in terrible condition and are screaming for an update. It is a real shame as the location his beautiful. The reservation system is a joke. You have to call or send an email and they will get back to you if they have the dates you want. Come on, get into the tech era and get a system that allows you to book on line

A Wonderful, scenic place
By Larry, 8/14/09
Just returned from the Thomas Edison Inn and it exceeded our expectations. the Inn was constructed on 1987 with a design to look like it might have looked in Edison't time. The rooms were clean and well appointed with queen beds. The location on the river is superb with a view of the Blue Water Bridge and the passing lake freighters. The dining room faces th river and the food was quite good. The staff was very friendly and professional. If one were to select a room that didn't have a real good view of the river, one might be disappointd. However, we liked it so much we plan to return perhqaps for three days this time. We woul definitly recommend it.

What a BEAUTIFUL place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/19/08
I don't think that some of you stayed in the same hotel as I did because I thought that the hotel was wonderful. All the staff was wonderful and we had no problems making our reservation or checking in. The room itself did have older furniture but all of it was more than perfect. When we first arrived we were greeted by a wonderful front desk staff which helped us get to our room. We had a wonderful waiter in the dining room, and had a blast listening to the band in the bar. We had a full water view room and let me tell you we had a view so beautiful i wanted to pay more!!! Thank you Thomas Edison Inn I will recommend your overnight accommodation's and your wonderful dining faculty's =)

Just Keep on driving!!!
By T. Dogg, 3/17/08
Myself and my wife went to the TEI this weekend and what a joke!!! We had made our reservation online and when we arrived the front desk could not find it. So they registered us and checked us in. Well online I had requested a queen smoking room but all the had was a non smoking but was told that it was ok because it had a balcony. We get upstairs and discover there was no balcony so we brought this to the front desk's attention and were told we could upgrade to a jacuzzi room for a cost of $125.00. When we arrived in the jacuzzi room we realized that the jacuzzi was in the bathroom and had a shower head attached. (Jetted Bath Tub) which was filthy!! The carpet was nasty the furniture looked like something you would see at a resale shop or on the curb on garbage day The TV was all of maybe 19". I went there for romance with my wife and the room had double beds!!! Well needless to say I think we stayed all of 15 minutes and asked for a refund and checked out I will never make that mistake again!!!

Should be a 5 star,.. but...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/07
Cleanliness is lacking and what kind of quality hotel has no King size beds available??? There are beautiful suites with plenty of room but someone needs to tell management to spend some money on real beds with comfortable matresses and o it NOW!!! I will not stay there again until they do and I will tell my friends to do the same. This plae has wonderful ambiance and scenery. Location is excellent!! Why waste such opportunities by being too cheap to upgrade beds and expect maids to clean thoroughly???

Would like to have rated good to excellent but...
By Kevin, 5/20/07
...returning to the Hotel w/ dinner in hand we found ourselves locked out of our room, had to go to desk to have key reset, more serious was front desk telling my Mother-in-law, calling for us, there was no one registered under our name, in frail health, this could have been an emergency and we would not have been contacted, serious and should be addressed. Room and view were beautiful!

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/11/07
This hotel is beautiful in it's period. Problem is when you get to the room, not so beautiful. The furniture is from the 70's or earlier, I am thinking the dust was at least a month old. I don't think the place gets alot of business. At least in the winter. The pool itself was nice, although the patrons of the fitness center seemed to think it was there for them and did not give a generous reception to my family of 5 kids. The resteraunt was nice although pricey. We did get the corporate rate of 70.00 per night. Which put us in the price range of any other dive motel. Which is about what we got.

Edison Inn Visits
Love the location, the decor, honoring Edison. Some of the rooms need upgrading, renewing, otherwise service in restaurant is fine, and beautiful view of the water! We have stayed three times, and would happily return!

romantic couple get away
By Andee, 7/7/06
My boyfriend, at the time, now fiance`, and I came to the TEI for our 1 Year anniversary in the beginning of this year. We were looking for that "really romantic getaway" and TEI was what we were looking for! I think it was a little costly, but for the aviance, good food and service, we think it was well worth it! When we got engaged and were looking for a place that would fit our image for the reception, we actually looked into having our reception at the TEI, but for whatever reason, the coordinator couldn't accommodate what we were looking for :( But that doesn't take away from the rest of our good experience. We are, in fact, going back tonight (6 months later)to have a romantic dinner and dancing night!
