HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HOTEL STAFF!!
I Cannot believe this hotel is still in business. I read through many of the previous reviews and I can relate to all of the negative reviews. I also believe any positive reviews on this hotel are fake. The hotel staff and management treated us horribly. They were completely disrespectful and the apparent "owner" of the hotel seems like he needs anger management classes or needs to be evaluated by psychiatric physician. The cancellation policy at this hotel is absolutely ridiculous. I cannot believe the price of the roooms as well. We paid $160 for a double occupancy with very minimal amenities. Others I know stayed down the street, paying $70 for the same occupancy and had a wonderful experience along with many more amenities (indoor waterpark, fire pit, friendly staff, etc.). Please do not waste your time even thinking about staying at the Hamilton Inn. I will continue to tell anyone and everyone about my horrible experience with this hotel.

Lack of Compasion thats for sure and VERY RUDE

We Have always stayed at this hotel when traveling to Mackinaw city. Unfortunetly we booked a room for Oct. 2 and Oct. 3 TWO HOURS AGO, Then we received a call that a FAMILY MEMBER has passed away and called to cancel the reservations since our trip is cancelled due to this death. The receptionist at the desk was RUDE to say the lest and would not allow us to cancel the reservations despite our situation. When we ask to talk to the manager she very nastyly told us the manager was not available. We will NEVER stay here ever again and we may only be two people but will tell EVERYONE of this , they have made a few bucks on us by not allowing us to cancel, but there actions will cost them plenty of loss in the furture.

Horrific Customer Service and Management

We had two rooms booked at the Hamilton Inn Select in Mackinaw City during the week of August 14th. An opportunity came up for us to stay at a condo nearby, which had more room for our party of 6 and a kitchen. However, the condo was not available on Friday evening the 19th, so we kept our reservations at the Hamilton Inn Select for that night only. We were then notified by the condo management that there had been a cancellation, and Friday night was now available. The cancellation policy for Hamilton Inn is by noon three days prior to the date of arrival. My husband called at exactly noon three days prior, and was put on hold. By the time he talked with a live person, it was 12:03. They would not give us a refund for the two rooms. They kept my husband on hold, then penalized us for 3 lousy minutes!!! My husband then went to the Inn and talked to directly to a manager. She would still not provide a refund. Both the manager and the other staff member my husband spoke to were rude and argumentative. They did not take into account that we could potentially be customers in the future, and try to build good will. As it stands, we will never use a Hamilton Inn, though we will be returning to Mackinaw City. We have also informed all of our contacts who plan to visit there to not stay at the Hamilton Inn Select. I will also be reporting this to AAA and the Better Business Bureau.

The ONLY Place I Stay In Mackinaw

Every time I visit Mackinaw City I stay at the Hamilton Inn. I am a firm believer of "if it's not broken don't fix it." And I have never had any issues when staying there. My family is from Mackinaw, so I visit often. I personally love the lakefront rooms. The view is GORGEOUS! My room has always been immaculate and the housekeepers have always been courteous and quick to help with anything I need (an extra towel, some extra coffee, etc.). Also the front desk staff is warm and welcoming, they even remember me from previous stays - usually there are months between visits. I recommend the Hamilton to everyone I know!

I love staying at the Hamilton Inn.

I love staying at the Hamilton Inn. I'm building nearby so I've been a frequent guest this past year. The staff is always welcoming... the parking lot is always cleared of snow and ice...the rooms are comfortable and warm...and the hot breakfast is a welcome sight! WiFi is super and, if you leave your laptop at home, there are computers you can use in the breakfast room. Just wish they had microwaves in the rooms so you could heat up leftovers from the local restaurants...then it would be absolutely perfect!

New Beds, Clean Rooms, what else do you need?

I stayed in this hotel twice in the month of November and if I get the chance I will stay here again. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was suburb. Our room was clean and warm. My only disappointment had nothing to do with the hotel. I didn't know what time sunrise was so I could set my alarm to take pictures. Now as an afterthought, I could have called down to the desk and I'm sure they would have found out for me.

he hotel was clean, the staff wss very helpful and friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. This was my third visit to the Hamilton Inn and I would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent Getaway!

We stayed in one of the new jacuzzi rooms facing Lake Huron. It was awesome! The room was very nice. Granite counter top with his and her sink. Nice tile floor and shower. The jacuzzi was nice size. Flat screen TV above the jacuzzi. The king sized bed was very comfortable. It also had a queen size pull out couch. The balcony was private and was decent sized. The lake view was awesome! The ferry docks are next to the hotel, so you get to watch them off of the balcony. The room was very clean. Housekeeping did a good job during your stay. The breakfast buffet was pretty good. Had a variety of things you could choose from. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. Michael went above and beyond to help us. Any questions we had he helped us out. The location is pretty good. Its about a 1/4-1/2 mile walk to downtown. Overall, this is a very nice place. Would recommend to anybody. We will definitely be staying here when we are in Mackinaw. DO NOT listen to the reviews on here. This place is a great place to stay!

OWNER LIES, STEALS, THREATENS, & UNETHICAL

KEY POINTS 1. THEY LIEd to us when we were reserving the room. -we arrived and saw the place was not as it was explained + front guy told us, "well it all depends on how you asked the question and how the guy worded his answer" (who says that to a customer) 2. HOTEL IS NOT NEW at all and looks old inside. 3. HOTEL HAD A CHEMICAL SMELL THAT MADE US AND OTHERS SICK all throughout the hotel on each floor (third floor was not as bad. -Hotel made our eyes burn, throats burn and was causing my mom to have an asthma attack. -Another customer was down at the front desk complaining at the same time about getting sick from the hotel. 4. FRONT DESK GUY TOLD MY MOTHER SHE WAS LYING AND COULD NOT SMELL THE CHEMICALS. (who tells a customer that?) - She was getting sick from the chemical smell and we were just asking to move to a third floor room and would pay the difference. 5. FRONT DESK SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE AND RUDE AND NOT WILLING TO WORK SOMETHING OUT TO KEEP OUR BUSINESS. -We tried to see if we could be moved to the third floor and pay the difference and they kept telling us we could not smell a chemical. -We told them that we had to be moved or my mother would have to be taken to the hospital if she had to put up with that chemical smell and they responded. Well, there is nothing we can do. 6. OWNER LIED, THREATENED, STOLE, AND DID NOT CARE ABOUT HIS CUSTOMERS AND WAS VERY IMMATURE - Owner lied about his name and would not give us his last name. -We found he was the owner when the other lady complaining asked if she could get the information of the corporate office or the owner. The owner then replied, "you want to talk to the owner, well HELLO NICE TO MEET YOU! I AM THE OWNER! So, what what do you want now?" -Owning a business your main job is to make sure your guests are comfortable and happy and he must not have learnt that in his life. He would not come up with something to help us out from getting sick. Instead he was angry that we were both down there complaining how his hotel was making us sick and then told us to pack our stuff and for both of us to leave. - He kicked out the lady, her husband, and her little children, along with us 60-80+ year olds. +We asked why he was asking us to leave and he did not have a reason why. -The owner then THREATENED A CUSTOMER telling her if she spoke negatively about him or his company he would ruin her life and make sure her life was hell. There were a couple of us there to hear him. He did this SCREAMING AT HER and even continued to scream at me +We asked again why he was asking us to leave and again he did not have a reason and just told us to pack our stuff and leave. + We then decided to pack our bags and try and find another hotel at 11pm at night (a lot of hotels no vacancies). When we left we wanted to make sure he was not billing us and come to find out that he decided to bill us for 1 night stay when we were only in our room for an hour or two and was asked to leave and did not leave on our own because we didn't have anywhere to go. We then again asked why were being told to leave and they told us because I interrupted a front desk guy talking to a new customer. I then asked to see the video surveillance to see what they were talking about because i did not talk to the front guy until he acknowledged me & when he told me i had to wait because he needed to finish talking to the customer i stepped to the side and let him proceed. So, i then asked to talk to the owner again to see the surveillance & they informed us that the owner had to leave for a family emergency. that was convenient timing because he knows he was wrong OVERALL: DO NOT GO HERE!! THEY DO NO RESPECT THE ELDERLY. THEY DO NOT RESPECT FAMILIES W/ CHILDREN. THEY LIE, MISLEAD, THREATEN, STEAL, & DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS

Owner needs Hospitality Management classes!!!

We had a large group coming in for a once a year weekend getaway. Part of our group visited a few months earlier to view the suite and make sure that it would be large enough to accommodate all of us. The suite was perfect so we reserved that room. When we all arrived, the staff provided two adjoining rooms that did not have enough space for all of us! A few of us went to the desk to ask to be switched to the larger suite. The owner was at the desk and was very rude and unaccommodating to us! He never admitted giving us a smaller room than promised. On top of it all, he led us down the hallway (out of range of the video and audio surveillance) and threatened to kick all of us out!!! We later found out that the hotel had been overbooked for the weekend and the owner was trying to free up some rooms for other guests that were arriving. We chose to spend the night but found other accommodations in town with friendly, local staff at an independent hotel. By the way, the staff at this hotel is all imported from Jamaica. I believe that they are fearful of the owner and how he rules the hotel. We went to a local restaurant that is not one of the four large ones owned by this same person. The wait staff heard a bit of our conversation and was very helpful to our situation by providing us with Chamber of Commerce comment cards and offering to call a police officer over to speak with us on neutral ground about our options. We found through the police and the wait staff that these complaints are occurring frequently. In the past few years, this owner took over management from his father and service has really gone downhill at all of the beachfront hotels that he owns in this stretch of the town. Research the hotel thoroughly to make sure you will not be staying at one of this man's properties or you will be sorry!
