Awful. Just awful.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/17/11
This is the most dirty and dingy hotel we have ever been to in the US. And we've stayed in Motel 6s, Red Roof Inns, etc. We saw multiple bugs in December (!) when there was snow on the ground. There were no curtains at all and just bent blinds which let in light and had little privacy on the first floor. There were magic marker directions written on the heater that had maybe two settings - hell and off. We only touched the remote control with a kleenex between our hand and it. The bathroom was disgusting - we stopped closing the shower curtain when we realized it might only help to spread some water around the room. The cigarette burns in the "blankets" were only slightly inconvenient as we put them on the floor so our feet didn't touch the carpet. No one cleaned our room or changed the towels while we were there. My husband said when we were packing to leave and sorting dirty and clean, "It's ALL dirty. It's been in this room!" Don't even. Just don't.

You get what you pay for
By LAsoozq, 6/16/08
Location was the only redeeming value for us with this hotel. Got maid service when we put out the sign, but then the sign disappeared, so that was the end of the service! When we DID get service, maybe the bathroom got cleaned up and we got fresh towels and cups, maybe not, we never knew what to expect. Only got two stations well on the TV, there was no remote control, and the blinds were bent so that people could see in. The air conditioner worked, tho, so that was a blessing. Oh, and we were missing half of the lightbulbs! No complaints about the shower, it worked fine, although more towels would have been nice since they knew we had 3 people in the room. Expected more noise from the lounge, but that didn't happen. The staff member at the desk was very helpful when we arrived, but the staff working when we checked out were slow and didn't know how to check us out; took about 15 minutes to get the credit card through the phone system. They were pleasant enough, but not the slightest bit professional. But what can you expect for $56 a night? All the other hotels were booked due to it being a Wabash reunion weekend (not what we were there for), so were were desperate. Not a good hotel experience, but heck, we DID have a roof over our heads and a bed to sleep in, and that was it's main function while we were off visiting with relatives all day.

Great place to stay!
By DanielS, 6/26/07
When we first moved to Indiana from Chicago, we needed a place to stay for two months before our house was finalized. The Lew Wallace has very helpful management (they went out of their way to get us a refrigerator and discount our stay twice) and the rooms are basically spotless. I think the other review was written before the hotel was remodeled. My only qualm was that it can get a little loud at night from people leaving the bar and the music. Other than that, highly recommended.

Unpleasant
By Kristin Watts, 4/26/06
While the rooms are cheap, you certainly get what you pay for. Not very clean and everything in the room is very old. Not very safe. While getting dressed, a maintenance man keyed right into my room without knocking. No apology from the hotel about the situation. The only good thing is the bar downstairs.

Wabash College Annex
By Greggory, 6/6/05
There's no pool, sauna or free newspaper. Who cares? Location is what the "Lew" has to offer. It is within one block of the Wabash College campus and its lounge affords a convenient gathering place for students and their guests.
