Will not stay again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/11
Could not control heat in room. It was 85 degrees and we couldn't turn on AC because of an old two pipe system. Burnt up all night. called front desk and only thing they said "can't do anything about it" Remote only worked when held against TV Told front desk about it at check out and the clerk took an attitude with me. Clerk knocked off 10 dollars, so I paid 77.00 to sweat all night. Later, general manager called me and told me I needed to appreciate the rich history of the McClure. that hard to do when you are burning up. Cleanliness could be improved.

feelin so-so about this one
By MaRbEaR, 5/3/10
the lobby was beautiful all the staff that we met over our brief stay seemed nice..we enjoyed our stay at the Mclure besides for the fact that the bathroom floors were very dirty...the toilet in one of our rooms did not flush and we had to wait to get it fixed..you would of thought they would have done something to make up for the inconvience but nope they didn't...this hotel should hire better house staff...not only so the cleaning can be done RIGHT but to atleast make sure the fridge was plugged in...espiecally when we made reservations close to a week prior...and if you do make reservations and are a light sleeper get a room thats not by the elevator its a bit noisy...altogether we enjoyed our selves in wheeling wv...just had to wear flipflops and socks in the bathroom...lol

NOT THE CLEANEST PLACE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/14/10
IT USED TO BE THE GREATEST LITTLE PLACE TO STAY,BUT NOT THEY HAVE WORKERS THAT DOESN;T LOOK TRUSTWORTHY. YOU REALLY CAN'T TELL THEIR EMPLOYEES FROM THE PEOPLE OFF OF THE STREET. THE ROOMS WERE JUST PLAIN FILTHY.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/09
THIS WAS VERY CLOSE TO THE STADIUM BUT THE CLEANLINESS WAS NOT GOOD. THEY ALSO CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD AN EXTRA NIGHT THE DAY AFTER WE LEFT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Historic Hotel with Lots of Charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/08
My husband and I loved the McLure House Hotel and its historic ambience. We only stayed one night but will definitely return. The queen-size bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. We stayed on the sixth floor and had a wonderful view of the city. The bathroom could have been a little cleaner as the door and walls were slightly dirty. The elevator, hallways, and stairwells definitely need to be renovated. The lobby was superb with its giant chandelier. We had a drink in the lounge and our bartender was first class all the way. We had a great time at the McLure House! If you enjoy historic hotels with lots of charm and great rates, this is the place for you!!!

you get what you pay for
By Cebony B, 5/5/08
overall it was ok i guess front desk was friendly but not that knowledgable about the visitors center or the shuttle service to casino they told me that the rooms were recently renovated guess they meant new towels or something wallpaper was peeling on the walls in our room but it was clean. was more disapointed with the casino and cab service than anything else probably will never go back to dirty little wheeling again

Wheeling's Best-Kept Secret
By Karen M, 4/30/08
We had our wedding reception at the McLure hotel 2 weekends ago. Not only were the accomodations for our guests classy and first-rate, but the historic hotel has an antique charm about it that needs to be seen, can't quite describe it here in words. The lobby itself is lovely, with the huge chandelier and winding staircase up to the ballroom looking like something from the early 1900's. And the rooms were clean and spacious (we're from the city), and we loved the view of the Ohio River! We would definitely recommend the McLure! We're surprised we hadn't heard of this little gem before we looked around for a place for our wedding. The front desk staff were personable and knowledgeable, and had an answer or solution to all our concerns and questions.
