well, it's a place to crash...
We stayed at the Knight's Inn in Hardeeville, South Carolina at the end of June, 2004. Although we weren't looking for four-star to begin with, I wouldn't stay there again.
Although the housekeeping staff was great (*very* nice), the management was not. Everything we requested, including checking in, seemed like a major inconvenience to them. Requests for extra towels and toilet paper were treated as if we had asked them to donate a kidney.
In the room, wallpaper was peeling, the bathroom door would not shut completely, and the tub was perpetually stopped up. We had two kinds of water: hot and scalding. We asked them to check into it, and wound up with two days of cold water.
They came in with a wet vac and a snake to fix the bathtub drain, but each time we took a shower, the water quickly rose to calf level and took forever to drain.
When the two rooms were booked six months prior, it was specified that both rooms would need a refrigerator and microwave, which they said would not be a problem. When we arrived, only one room had them, and they gave us grief because they said there was "no reason we couldn't just share them."
But I must also say the the housekeeping staff and the evening clerk at the desk were great. They were the sweetest bunch, and when asked for supplies for the room were very gracious. If you need things (toilet paper, towels, etc.) don't bother with the management, ask them.
The location is convenient though; right off I95 and within walking distance to gas stations and fast food chains. For value, if you simply need a place to crash, the price is reasonable.
I don't think this is a reflection on the Knights Inn chain, as I've stayed at them before in other states; this individual establishment has problems.
