Bay Resort, Dewey Beach

The unit is like new, very clean, slept well, quiet, patio with grass to the bay water. Very private and a short walk to the ocean beach. Many things to do within a block or two. The unit included everything you need, flat screen tv, refrig, microwave, stove, dishes, utensils, hair dryer, soaps/shampoos, even an iron and ironing board. And, the Ladies in the office were Happy and very accommodating. The off-season price was the most reasonable we could find and I am very familiar with Dewey Beach and Rehobeth areas. I highly recommend this motel and especially the Bay-side view.

Normally we vacation in Myrtle Beach but this year because of gas prices, etc. we decided to stay more local. We found the Bay Resort because of their great mid-week package deals and stayed three nights. The place has a great location right on the bay, with it's own pier--a great place for crabbing, fishing, or generally relaxing. We actually caught some nice size crabs off the dock and had ourselves a little treat. The wildlife in the area is also a treat to watch, with many types of water fowl and other bay critters. The beach is only a two block walk, although you do have to cross a busy highway. The beach allows dogs after 5:00 p.m., which was great for us since both our kids love dogs, and we had a good time petting some wet fur and watching them play in the surf. There are lots of places to eat and get snacks within walking distance(i.e. Wings to Go, Rita's, Grotto Pizza, Nick's Gyros, etc.),and the beach bar down the block from the hotel has great food served outdoors or in, and live music on the weekends which gave us free entertainment while crabbing off the dock at sunset (the sunsets are beautiful off the bay). Some rooms are pool view, some are bay view. I definitely recommend the bay view, even though it costs a little more--it's well worth it. There is a nice grassy area and a sandy area with Gazebo by the bay for lawn games and lunch with a view, if you like. The pool itself is kind of small and simple and is apparently not heated. The week we went (the week before labor day), the pool water was very cold. With regard to the rooms, they are a little small for our taste (we have two adults, a 9 year old and a 13 year old, so it was tight). It has a tiny kitchen area with a stove, oven, microwave, sink and under the sink fridge. Although it has some cookware and utensils, they are scant, so I suggest if you need to cook, bring some of your own things (i.e. they did not have a skillet or fry pan to make pancakes, or any sharp knives--little things like that). The balconies are small but nice, with a small table and 2 chairs, but ours was a shared balcony so it was a little uncomfortable. The staff at the hotel are super nice, very friendly and helpful. They are local ladies with a good deal of information about the best places to go and things to do. Dewey Beach has always been known as a party town so if you go on the weekends, you must be prepared for an assorted crowd of party people, some of whom can be a bit obnoxious (although Dewey Beach police do a nice job of keeping things under control). All in all, we had a wonderful time and are looking forward to going back (it's only a two hour drive for us). However, personally, I wouldn't want to stay more than three nights because after that we start stepping all over each other because of the size of the room and the trip looses some of it's charm.

the hotel was great. the room was great. the food was great. the pool was great. the service was great. i would stay here again.

We came to Bay Resort in early summer for a girls weekend away and had a great time. The employees were very helpful and friendly and did their best to make us feel welcome. It was our first visit to this area and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I am returning with my family, husband, grandchildren, and extended family for a long weekend. This is definately a family place.
