HAUNTED
By Ashley, 3/23/08
IT WAS HAUNTED! We paid for the night and after a short nap the windows opened up. We were in the INN part on the 2nd floor. There was also sand in the bathroom and in the shower EVERYWHERE! We wont stay there again.

Very good
By BabyL, 3/6/08
It was the first time I had ever been to a hotel and everyone was so nice. It had a large pool, and a very good restraunt, walking distance everywhere.

Very Nice
By Kevin, 10/27/07
Just back from touring the Outer Banks and this was our best stop along the way. Really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. Stayed in the Villa Section and found it to be Superb! In walking distance of pretty much everything, including the lighthouse, docks and "downtown" district. Inn keepers were just really nice folks, enjoyed the breakfast and couldn't think of a better place.

New Management!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/07
As of July 2007, the Island Inn has been taken over by new management. The Inn did get run down and service was not up to par under the old regime. I stayed there in July and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Breakfast is included and wonderful and there are substantial capital improvements planned. The villas are the newest rooms on the Island and the main Inn is in much better condition than it apparently was when the last reviewer visited.

Nasty
By Sharon, 6/28/06
We stayed at the Inn, not the Villas. This is a very important distinction. The inn is a very old building desprately in need of improvement. The lobby, stairs, and halls smelled of must, mold and urine. Our room was one of the two on the third floor, so the mustiness wasn't so bad up there. but I did suffer from allergic reaction to the mold. The fire alarms were ancient and were the independent battery operated style. Since the building is an old wooden one, this did not inspire security in me. Especially since the one outside our room was on the floor and the battery in the one in our room died at 3 AM. The free breakfast was so bad we had to go elsewhere (fortunately this charming island has many laces to choose from). I would never stay at this place; it would ruin your vacation. we only stayed there because it was given as a gift for us by my mother. (I didn't have the heart to tell her how bad it was).

Almost Kicked Out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/8/04
Ocracoke Island Inn was the best place I have ever stayed on the Island. We made some noise and almost got kicked but they were understanding people and let us stay the next night. We stayed in the Villas (the best on the island) Fully furnished with everything down to juice glasses. The view from the top deck is awesome. We watched the ferry come in and unload, people on bikes, and all the movement down by the docks. We were still in walking distance of the Howards Pub. We had a blast and will stay again (if they let us)
