Oak Park Inn, Waynesville

Had a wonderful stay at this quaint Inn. Loved being so close to downtown. stayed 3 nites and had an early snowfall very beautiful and lovely. Confortable and quiet. Staff was helpful..... stayed 3days with them they loaned me a hairdryer because I don't pack them anymore as most hotels have them in the baths, but they had one which I kept the whole 3 days with no problem. This is the second time we haved stayed there. We will return and stay again. We love this town

My family stayed in several rooms at Oak Park last winter, when we were in Waynesville for a funeral, a very difficult time for us. Owners and staff did everything they could to make our stay easier. They left keys for late-arriving family members and on the day of the service, allowed us to come back late in the evening, long past usual checkout time, to change clothes before traveling home. Aside from the fact that the owners and staff were so kind to us, we also loved a lot of things about the motel itself. Rooms were spacious and charming, and very clean. In spite of the fact that this is a wonderfully 'vintage' place, there was no 'old building smell' that I've found in other older lodging. And, the setting is beautiful, quiet and surrounded by lovely old trees and native shrubbery. It's an easy walk down Main Street to interesting shops and good restaurants, as well as the popular MAST General Store. By the way, Oak Park offers wireless internet service for guests, which is an essential amenity for many of us. While at Oak Park, don't miss going to Clyde's Restaurant for breakfast. In my opinion, Clyde's is the last, greatest, authentic diner in the region. To get there, turn right out of Oak Park's drive. Clyde's is about 1/2 mile from Oak Park, on the left, in the former town of Hazelwood, which is now part of Waynesville proper. OK, I guess you can tell that I highly recommend the place? So much so, that I'm planning a week's vacation there next month, with my sister. We'll read, shop the downtown shops and the old Barber's Orchard Antique Mall (not far out of town - ask anyone for the simple directions), walk a lot, maybe drive the Blue Ridge one day, and just settle in to this nice old motel, which could easily begin to feel like home. ....... My three sisters and I stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my 60th birthday in October 2004. We were all delighted with the comfort, amenities, the great front porch to laze away time and the closeness to downtown. What a find!

We have stayed at the Oak Park Inn on several occasions and have found a gem in the mountains. Very clean and well suited rooms situated within walking distance to downtown Waynesville's shops and eateries. Would not think of lodging at any other facility in the local area.

Best find. Located in downtown Waynesville, you could not beat the location or price! Walk to shops and dining! Owners run the motel and are very friendly and helpful.
