Harmony House Inn, New Bern

My husband and I spent our anniversary at the inn. It was wonderful. The location was perfect , the service was great, and the room was wonderful!!!!!! We will go back again and hopefully can stay longer.

My husband and I spent three days at one of the best B&Bs we have visited. We went to attend the Antique Show on the weekend of February 13 and 14. The only bad part about the experience was the weather. It was cold and rainy, but we still had a great time. We chose Room 8 and it was very nice. My husband has back problems and he slept like a baby. The room had all of the amenities we needed. The Innkeepers are wonderful and very accommodating. Breakfasts were delicious especially the Stuffed French Toast. We are planning to return when the weather is warmer so that we can take advantage of the front porch which has swings and rocking chairs. We highly recommend this Inn.

What a lovely place for a honeymooon getway! The William and Emily suite was perfect. The bed just swallowed us up and we did not want to leave! It was as if we had traveled back in time to a quiet and peaceful time. We will be back next year.

Our stay at Harmony House was one of our most enjoyable vacations. I "kidnapped" my husband for a three-day surprise anniversary trip! My husband had no idea where I was taking him, and we both enjoyed the experience immensely. Personal service was fabulous, accommodations were spectacular, and the atmosphere was friendly, calming, and relaxing (a sort of “coming home” experience). The front porch was perfect for spending time with new friends, rocking in the rockers or swinging on the porch swings, and having “get-to-know-you” conversations. We were warmly met upon check-in and made to feel at home right away. We were given a tour and told of the interesting history of the house. We booked the Benjamin Ellis Suite with a bedroom and front living area, a nice place to wind down after a day of touring New Bern. Personal service and care was excellent, couldn't ask for any better! Waking to a fabulously prepared breakfast every morning was the perfect way to begin each day. The wine and cheese social each afternoon with soft background music was spectacular. We met and got to know other couples from across the United States (from California to Virginia) enjoying glimpses of different lifestyles, perspectives on life, and experiencing new, friendly personalities. Harmony House is located in the middle of all we wanted to see and do and never had to use our car throughout our stay! We visited Tryon Palace, toured historic homes, took the trolley tour (very informative about the history of New Bern and the relocation of housing instead of destruction!), visited "Pepsi's" birthplace, shops, eateries, strolled the beautiful tree-lined streets, and walked the calming waterfront in the evenings. Thank you, Ed and Sookie (and Allan) for memories my husband and I will always cherish. If we are ever in the New Bern area again, Harmony House is the place for us.

Our family drove from Ohio to the Carolinas for a 10 day vacation. On the way to our Hilton Head timeshare we decided to drop by New Bern to experience it's coastal charm and southern hospitality. Our expectations were greatly exceeded! This charming B&B was a pleasant and welcome contrast to our typical timeshare or commercial hotel experience. Our suite was clean and well kept. The bedroom was quiet and comfortable. The Harmony House is a very short walk to the water, or to the quaint downtown area with many nice shops and restaurants. We partcularly enjoyed the Morgan House Tavern and would recommend it to all visitors. The highlight of of our stay was the time we spent with the innkeepers, Ed and Sooki. They are passionate about their work and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were comfortable. We felt at home throughout our stay. Visitors should make the time to linger over breakfast and get to know these wonderful hosts. Speaking of breakfast, make sure to try the Heath Bar Coffee Cake. It's to die for!

We recently returned from the Harmony House where we had a wonderful 35th anniversary. We arrived on a Thursday parked our car and did not use it for three days. Everything is so close but yet the quiet ambience of the Inn was awesome. We visited all the New Bern sights including the Tryon Palace on foot with wonderful stops in between at restaurants that appeal to just about any desire. The breakfasts at the Inn were very original and great for starting the day. We made sure and took in the wine and cheese each evening before going to dinner. We enjoyed visiting with Ed and Sooki and getting their recommendations for each day. They are wonderful hosts and the Inn is a great place to stay. We stayed in a suite with a Jacuzzi. The room was very large and decorated brightly for the holidays. If you like antiques, quiet time for relaxing, easy strolls to interesting historical sites, trolley rides, and small town craft and art shopping you will be sure to enjoy your stay at Harmony House. While we were there NCTV filmed a segment for an upcoming program on Bed & Breakfasts in NC. Look for the show in the next few weeks if you want to see more.

My husband surprised me with a trip for my birthday/Thanksgiving. I didn't know where we were going until he pulled up in front of the Harmony House. We stayed 3 nights. Had wonderful homemade breakfasts. My husband told me that the stuffed french toast is one of their specialties, and it is true. We also enjoyed the homemade coffee cakes and the peanut butter spread! We were made welcome as soon as we entered the door, the setting was unbelievably comfortable. We'd recommend seeing the sites; everything was within walking distance of the Inn. We ate at the Thai Thai restaurant and Morgan's Tavern. Oh, and I got a great impromptu birthday song!! Highly recommend and hope to visit again!!

The bed in Room 1 was too high. No steps were provided and it was very difficult to climb into bed - not suggested for older folks. Breakfast was forgetable, otherwise clean. There must be better choices in the area.

Jamie is my best friend and im not trying to be envious but i love the inn. THey Welcome you and treat you like part of their family and i really enjoy that! YOu GUYS ROCK!!!!! -miki
