Absolutely Filthy - But Good Location & Price
First off, I'd like to say that some of these reviewers are reviewing some other hotel besides the Red Roof Inn-Lafayette, because the pleasant place they are describing does not exist & it certainly isn't the same place where we stayed!

Red Roof Inn-Lafayette has an extremely good location, very good price, extremely bad front desk service, and is the filthiest hotel where anyone could possibly stay. (According to the front desk clerk, hotel rooms in Lafayette were hard to get after Hurricane Gustav or we would have gone elsewhere.) The front desk clerk was downright hostile as soon as we arrived. We weren't sure why - maybe she was having a bad night. We asked if the downstairs room we had requested when we made the reservation was available and she told us we were lucky we even got a room. After we brought our luggage to the room, I went to use the bathroom, only to find a used wash cloth that looked like it had been used to wipe someone rear end lying beside the toilet on the floor. After that, I looked around and found that one of the beds had been slept in and had not been made up, the floor had not been vacuumed in quite some time, the t.v. did not work, the lamp on the table did not have a bulb, there were no other wash cloths other than the used one on the floor beside the toilet, and the alarm clock on the bed stand did not work. Of course we went back to Ms. Friendly, the front desk clerk, and asked to be given another room, since we tend to not like having pooped-on washcloths from other guests in our room. Surprisingly, she had another room. (Was her original statement that we were lucky to even have a room accurate? I doubt it, since on the late-night walk to the next motel room we passed no less than 6 obviously vacant rooms.) On arrival at the 2nd motel room, we immediately looked around, found there were unused towels and wash cloths and counted ourselves lucky, despite the fact that both the t.v. & the lamp on the table in this room didn't work, and the floor being dirty. It was a vast improvement over the 1st room we were given.
Conclusion: When you read other people's online reviews saying a place has a good price & location, but that it is filthy -- go somewhere else! We wish we had! It's just not worth it! It might save you from catching bedbugs or even worse.
The sad thing about Red Roof Inn-Lafayette being so run down is that if it were managed better, it could be a pleasant place to stay & not the filthy hole it is.
