This Place is a travelers nightmare
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/09
This place is a filthy decrepit bug infested dump. Do not expect any customer service it is absolutely non existent. There are many nicer places to go, stay clear!

Basic Room, Fantastic View
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/13/09
++Liked the view. -Didn't care for the age of the hotel/room. +Had newer carpeting, bedding and sofa bed and was clean. -Our room didn't have any water pressure, had to be moved the next day. +Had a nice pool area and Tiki Bar -Tiki Bar only open on Saturday (?) +Has efficiency rooms for longer stays. Call and ask for any special rates. They were giving a special 'walk in' rate when we were there... but wouldn't give us the same price because we had called and booked in advance, so were already locked in with a price.

If you want a hot shower - this isn't the place.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/28/09
First night we stayed the hot water sytem did not work. They moved us to another room the following day and had the same problem - not enough hot water for a shower. When we requested an adjustment on our bill they refused. With all the motels in Islamorada you should keep looking.

Pelican Cove Resort
By Mrs. Fish Assassin, 05/30/08
Friendly staff and comfortable rooms made our stay at Pelican Cove an enjoyable one. The views are beautiful, the pool, tiki bar, beach and hot tub are definately 'lots of fun'! There is plenty of parking, and the marina with fishing charters right at the resort is convienient. Not to mention the Holiday Isle next door, the Tiki Bar, Rum Runners(bar) and the Theater of the Sea all being within walking distance. The location is easy to find, and the layout is nice. I would definately stay at the Pelican Cove Resort again.

Awful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/06
This hotel is dirty, loud and customer service is a joke to these people. It misrepresents itself on the internet as an upscale resort and charges accordingly. If you're interested in a out-of-control, spring break atmosphere, complete with a host of low-life degenerates, then this is the right place for you. Rules are violated, drunken teenagers and young adults are in the pool and hot tub all night long yelling and horsing around. There are people constantly yelling, slamming doors, smoking pot and partying in the corridor and main areas and playing loud music. The staff is rude and apathetic and there is no security so watch your car and belongings carefully!. Profane language around their garbage strewn, filth of a bar and grill is the norm, so bringing your children is not a good idea. Good luck complaining to/ or ever speaking to the manager-we are still trying but she doesn't return phone calls or respond to complaints. We had originally planned to stay three nights. After two days and several unresolved complaints, we packed our bags and left. But of course, the manager (who we have never seen nor spoken to) charged our credit card for the night we didn't stay; a situation we are still trying to remedy-now we're dealing with an attorney- not exactly the laid back Keys trip you're probably envisioning! As frequent Keys visitors, we are strongly advising anyone reading this- save yourself a lot of pain! DO NOT STAY AT THIS FILTHY, LOUD, OBNOXIOUS "RESORT"!!!!!!!!

Do NOT Stay here!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/05
If you are wanting a nice vacation, DO NOT STAY at this so called "resort". My friends and I stayed there for a buddies wedding and what an absolute nightmare. Me and one of the other guys both got our trucks towed EVEN after asking the lady at the front desk (the one with the froggy voice) if our vehicles would be safe where they were parked and she told us 'Yes'. That cost $270 each and on top of that, the tow company broke my tail light (an additional $40 to replace) AND put scratches all over the truck. When we confronted the lady at the front desk, she got all defensive (an obvious sign of knowing she was in the wrong) and threatened us that if we did not leave the front office...that she would call the cops and have us removed. It seems that from this situation and reading other reviews, that the people working the front desk are quite malicious. And could possibly have some scheme worked out with the tow company. I have read my share of reviews of this place and I can't imagine anyone having an enjoyable experience here.

Great Location, Very Poor Service
By Jeremy, 07/06/05
The only think I really liked about this place is it's in a great location. Other than that, it was a horrible experience staying there for 4 nights over 4th of July weekend. The management are the rudest people I've ever encountered. They have no concern for their guests whatsoever. My friend's car got towed after the Pelican Cove staff told them they were allowed to park in the spot he parked in. Of couse, Pelican Cove said there was nothing they could do and the manager was not available. Actually, they said the manager NEVER speaks to customers!?!?! Sounds like a great manager. Anyway, the shower didn't work very well and was either ice cold or scalding hot, no in-between. The air conditioning vent in the ceiling leaked water all over some of our clothes hanging in the closet. They appear to have only 1 maid, and she comes to bring fresh towels and clean around 4 or 5 p.m, way later than you would want a towel or something. It is a major ordeal to get service before that. We asked for our money back after 2 days to move to another hotel and they agree. Then, they claimed they never agreed to it, told us we were stuck there, and then severely overcharged us on when we checked out. This place is much more like a cheap motel (although it's not cheap to stay there at all) than any kind of resort. They are just out for your money like a bunch of crooks. Don't fall for it! I advise everyone who goes to Islamorada: DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! They're rude and their crooks! I had friends that stayed at other hotels in the same area (same weekend) and they didn't have any problems. Take your pick of any of the hotels/resorts down the street, but don't stay at Pelican Cove if you know what's good for you.
