Customer service means nothing here
I rented the cottage house, the most expensive room here at $230+, and for that I expect a wonderful experience. Where do I start? Moving my stuff in I noticed that the outside light wasn't working, and also that the clock inside was not working (needed a new battery). Not a big thing but it really isn't my job to have to even think about this. I really wouldn't have liked to come back in the dark and fumble around with the key considering the only other light is a dim pathway light. Ok, that wasn't a big deal. Then I went to eat at the Inn restaurant here and the only dinner available was the $50 valentines day special - no alternatives at all. I'm not here with a wife or partner, just me to relax on the weekend, and it's not even Valentines day - it's the day after. So why can't I get a non-Valentines day dinner on a day that's not Valentines day? So I pay for a dinner that was way more than I really wanted just so I can eat. But I must say the food was great. I got halfway through with the meal and I'm full, and I ask them to box it all up, including the cheesecake I hadn't had yet. I go back to the room and want to light the fire in the fireplace, and the butane lighter didn't work. I had to call to get another one. Again, why didn't they check that stuff and why do I have to deal with this? Then I go to put my leftovers into the fridge and I see someone's else's crap in there - cans of juices and a dirty glass half filled with frozen orange juice. Not only had they not checked and cleaned the fridge but it was set so high that you food will freeze, again not caring to look out for the guest. I call again and a girl comes to clean out the fridge. At least she thought to apologize. Then I wanted a few bites of my cheesecake later, before bed, and I go to get it from the fridge, and I realize - it wasn't there - they hadn't put the cheesecake from dinner into my bag of leftovers. So I have to call the main house again, and I ask that the cheesecake be brought over. The girl told me it would be a few mintes, and I said OK. 30 minutes later I call again, and the girl literally tells me that she was busy with paperwork and she hadn't gotten to the cheesecake yet. I'm just shaking my head at this point. Since when is anything more important that the guest? She brings over the cheesecake after another 10 minutes and I told her I was displeased with everything so far, and she said she would talk to someone about a gift certificate. I then said "I probably won't be back", and that she should comp some of the room. She hesitated and said the would talk to someone about *maybe* reducing the room. Unbelievable. Does anyone see anything wrong with this picture? Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't everything be right for the guest? Especially for such an expensive room? And if things go wrong, which I understand they can occasionally, shouldn't the idea of making up for it come from the hotel first and not the guest? In my case nothing came from the hotel until I brought it up, and I doubt much wil be done about it based on what I see so far. I definitely am not coming back. The entire plan of getting away and relaxing is totally out the window - I'm more stressed now than when I got here and from what I see they really don't care. I can totally understand why, when I called this afternoon (I'm here right now and will check out tomorrow morning), they still had most of the rooms available here, and why there was just me and two other couples eating in the restaurant, and I know at least one of the couples wasn't staying there - they lived nearby. People, if you want to keep customers and give them a warm and fuzzy feeling so that they will want to come back, you really have to do a lot better than this. Zero stars as far as I'm concerned.
