What a nightmare this place is.

I've been going to the Royal Atlantic for years and I have seen terrible changes in this hotel. First off, the owners are absentee owners, living in Greece. Second, they blast music all weekend. They hire a DJ on Saturday and Sunday afternoon and into the night, if you are unlucky enough to have an ocean front room near the bar, it is super loud. If you are looking to enjoy the ocean sounds, you won't hear them. When the DJ isn't there, the bartender blasts the radio. So, my advice is not to book near the bar and in the pool area, which about leaves no rooms left on the ocean. If you call the front desk and need help with something, they don't care. They won't call you back if you have problems with their wi-fi system. They don't care if a maid cleaned your bathroom with dirty water and your bathroom now smells like urine. Yes, that's what happened. They don't care if the games in the game room don't work, but you lost money. They don't care if the DJ is next to your balcony and blasting your ears off. The restaurant owner hires the DJ, but the manager went along with all of this. He's nowhere to be found. The weather was beautiful, but I had a stressful 4 days. If your child naps in the afternoon, forget it if you are near the bar. Mothers were complaining and no one cared at all. The manager of the restaurant didn't care either. Told me they had a permit for the DJ and they could do whatever they wanted to. Don't stay in room 51 or the one above it and any room near it. It's the worse room to have with the bar attached to it. I had to go into town to buy earplugs, as the bartender blasted the radio until 1 am. I had to leave the $340 a night room and get away from this hotel to hear myself talk to family members. I ended up not using my ocean front balcony. The music was awful. It's the kind of music that SNL makes fun of like "This is Love", etc. Really bad. Don't order the pancakes at the restaurant, as I could hardly cut into the rubbery things. The place has nice rooms, but is falling apart on the outside. It's a mess structurally and the outside of the place has seen better days. If you pay money for an oceanfront room, close your balcony door at 9pm or your room will fill from smoke from all the bonfires. College kids descend on the beach, drink at the bars and the bonfires are so close to your room, you'll choke. I've been to Montauk every year since I was born and the whole atmosphere is trashy these days. Go down the road and stay at the Wave Crest or other places near Gurney's Inn. Don't stay in the ones near town, unless drinking, partying and loud music is your thing. The maid service is horrible. Some of the ladies are nice, but most are immigrants who have no clue how to clean a room. I had to rewash the bathroom and buy Lysol. The front desk doesn't care if you have any problems in your room, as in the toilet doesn't work. Go to the hardware store and buy Draino and a plunger if you have plumbing issues. The kitchen sink wouldn't drain and the toilet wouldn't stop running and the front desk doesn't care about anything. I wasted $340 a night to have my ears bleed from bad music and to have my room cleaned with dirty water. The rooms are decorated nicely, but you can't put lipstick on a pig and not call it a pig.
