32 reviews for Royal Atlantic Beach Resort, Montauk
it was good but kind of expensive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/12/09
the good thing about the hotel is mainly its location. it is right on the beach and town is at a walkable distance. also there is a heated pool so you can still swim if there is bad wheather. another good the about this hotel is it was recently renovated and every room had a microwave, stove, refrigerator, and a granite countertop. everything in the room was perfectly clean contrary to the other reviews. there was also a bar right next to the pool that also served food. finally every morning there is free breakfast. the bad things about this hotel is that it is pretty expensive and there is a lack of normal sized bath towels so bring your own.

Great place to stay with minor issues!
By Tami, 06/16/09
Booked a two night stay for the weekend. Upon arrival I requested that we see the room first, this was granted with no hassle. Everything we wanted as far as the room goes was accomodated. The room was: Clean, Comfortable and Roomy. We had an Oceanfront with terrace and nice hot shower water. Built in heated pool with an outdoor bar area that serves food. FREE Breakfast in the morning, full meals from a menu, not a typical continental breakfast at most places, that was delicious. The Resort is close to everything, The Plaza, the Village, Bars, other Hotels and tourist places. Minor Issues: Toilet paper is like sand paper, no tissues like in most hotel rooms, so you have to blow into sandpaper toilet paper, bath mat is a hard piece of paper that DOES NOT absorb water which coincides with the towels that are minimal, so you can't waste a body towel for your bath mat. The towels are not "REAL" bath towels, big enough to wrap your hair after a shampoo, but not to wrap yourself. No alarm clock/radio or ice bucket in the room as in most hotels/resorts. Lastly, we came with food and did not know that the refrigerator was unplugged until the next day, that kind of sucked. Housekeeping should refrain from touching electrical outlets. Overall, can't complain. Would and Will go there again in the future.

Do not waste your time and money!
By Kimberlee, 01/29/09
DO NOT GO!! The management is terrible, unorganized, sloppy, ignorant and does not care about the customer. I made reservations for a weekend in January, had plans to fly a friend out that weekend and everything. I took time off of work and when we got there, they said that they made a mistake and the person that booked it should have booked it for a 3 day weekend not a 2 day and that they would not be able to accommodate us. Such bulls*?!! We argued and argued and they refused to give me the name of a manager or call one or even give me the number to their management company so I can contact them. I later heard, that this establishment is undergoing lawsuits and have judgments against them. Oh and btw, they are not too quick to give you back your money too. I'm having my credit card company fight the charges!!

Don't do it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/13/08
The worst place I have ever been. Filthy does not begin to say it. We tried more than one room and then left. Dirty sheets, dirty pillows, dirty rugs, dirty towels, paper bathmat (a least it was clean). Old food left in the cabinets, screen doors falling off.........seriously, I would not let my dog stay here. I cannot believe anyone actually likes this place.

Hotel is Rundown and Dirty
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/01/08
My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at the Royal Atlantic. Our beachfront, corner room was far enough away from the pool area to be very quiet and we loved both the hotel's beach and the hotel's nearness to town. Our room, however, and the hotel itself were so rundown and dirty that I would never consider staying there again. There wasn't any soap in the bathroom, or in the small kitchen area, when we arrived and I had to get some from a guy at the front desk who acted like I was asking for something special and bothering him. The room's furnishings were worn 1960's trash. The bedspreads were both so covered in lipstick that I wanted a pair of BBQ tongs to remove them. I didn't look too closely at the linens because they looked recently washed and I didn't want to totally freak out. We had to stay there because we were invited by friends who knew the owner and we didn't want to insult them. They got us 'the family rate' which was decent enough, so I can't complain about the price. The bathroom was a joke. The bathmat is paper and looks more like a diner placemat, or a lobster bib, than something you'd want under your feet when wet. On our first night there my wife took her shower first and she thought the oversized washcloths they call towels were actually bathmats so she used both of them for that purpose. I showered next and dried myself using the paper mat, a small, dirty hand towel meant for the kitchen sink and vigorous shaking. The toilet actually worked, but it made a loud noise every time the toilet above it flushed and the guy using that bathroom must have had a bad prostrate problem because our toilet sounded 'ba-boom' every 30 minutes or so all night long. The complimentary breakfast was bad too. The best things I can say about our stay at the Royal Atlantic are that it's close to the ocean and town and that we didn't pay a lot to stay there; everything else was disgusting.

Dump!!!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/16/08
The two bedroom that we were given was somthing right out of a horror movie. The room was absolutely disgusting. The sad fact is that these hotels will not upgrade until people stop booking. Dont book until you see your room.
